Hi I'm Christy

I mother and raise, I teach, I read, I write, I shoot photos, I build, and I learn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a homeschooling mother. I've been homeschooling my children for a little over a year now and have discovered how rewarding it is to spend most of each day with the people I love most. We share our lives with a flock of chickens, one rooster, and three dogs. I love hiking and enjoying the beauty of this world. I'm never fully happy unless I have a book to read. In the few spare seconds of my day I write novels, do art projects, sing, and play the piano and guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was eight years old, my parents were murdered. Through all the darkness surrounding that event, there was one shining truth. God knew me, loved me, and protected me. I felt and knew His spirit at that early age. I knew there was something bigger than me and that my life had purpose. I've lived my life since then seeking to become the person He wants me to be. He answers my prayers and guides my life. I'm a Mormon because I want to follow Jesus Christ. I need the power of His atonement. I want my children to know who they can turn to when life gets hard. I find true happiness when I listen to and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I try to read the scriptures daily. Taking a little time each day to refocus my thoughts on what really matters helps me be a better wife, mother, and friend. Service is important to me. I love attending church each week and having opportunities to reach out to others. I work with the young women, teaching them on Sundays and organizing weekly activities for them. Through my church membership, I've had opportunities to be involved in many different kinds of service projects from performing music, to helping at retirement homes, to collecting clothing and food for those who need them, to providing meals and childcare for those in my neighborhood who have just had babies or who are sick. I'm grateful for the organization of my local church that provides so many opportunities for me and my family to step out of our comfort zones and reach out to others.
