Hi I'm Cecily

I grew up in Singapore and now live in the UK. I'm a Chartered Accountant and a mum. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in sunny Singapore and came back to the UK for university. I am a Chartered Accountant and work part time in the finance department for a large company. I enjoy dancing, keeping fit and cooking in my spare time and I also volunteer as a first aider with St John's Ambulance. I'm married with one son and one on the way!

Why I am a Mormon

I met my husband in my last year of university. He was raised as a Mormon by his mum and when we started dating he asked if I would like to come to church with him. I had been brought up as an atheist and had no belief in God so I was skeptical at first but I agreed to go out of curiosity. I found that I enjoyed the experience of going to church and I wanted to find out more about Mormons' beliefs so I agreed to meet with the missionaries and learn more about the church. The missionaries taught me how to pray and asked me to pray by myself for answers to my questions. The first time I prayed I got down on my knees and said a heartfelt prayer asking if there was a God. I received an overwhelming response in the form of a huge sense of relief, comfort and happiness rising up inside me which was so powerful that it brought me to tears. From that moment on I knew that God exists and I have built on my knowledge and testimony from there ever since without looking back. I continue to be a Mormon because I continue to receive answers to my prayers and as I learn more about the church my testimony grows that it is the right place for me to be.

How I live my faith

I teach the women's lesson in my ward once a month based on recent talks given by church leaders. I love this calling because I learn so much from studying the talks and discussing them with the sisters in my ward. I also like to serve my local community by volunteering as a first aider with St John's Ambulance at all sorts of events around Oxfordshire. I enjoy learning about first aid and it's always good to know what to do in an emergency!
