Hi I'm Deb

I GREW UP IN IN A SMALL TOWN IN IDAHO. I AM A MOTHER OF FOUR. GRANDMOTHER OF TWO--SO FAR-- I AM A MORMON! :))

About Me

I AM A "YOUNG" EMPTY NESTER, I HAVE BEEN MARRIED TO A WONDERFUL MAN FOR 26 YEARS. ABOUT 23 OF THOSE HAPPILY! :)) WE HAVE FOUR ADULT CHILDREN, TWO VERY SPOILED DOGS AND 2 PERFECTLY WONDERFUL GRANDCHILDREN! I HAVE BEEN A STAY AT HOME WIFE/MOTHER FOR MOST OF OUR MARRIED LIFE SINCE YEARS AGO I DISCOVERED I DIDN'T LIKE LEAVING MY CHILDREN IN THE CARE OF OTHERS. NOW...WELL, I LIKE BEING A STAY AT HOME WIFE! I SPEND MY DAYS DOING VARIOUS HOBBIES, SPENDING TIME WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN OR FIGURING OUT WAYS TO GET THE CHILDREN TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE. I LIKE TO GO TO LUNCH WITH FRIENDS AS WELL AS JUST HANGING OUT WITH MY SWEET PUPPIES. I LIKE TO COOK AND BAKE BUT HAVE CUT BACK SINCE MY BODY DOESN'T RESPOND AS WELL AS IT ONCE DID WHEN I CONSUME ALL THE BAKED GOODIES. WE HAVE MOVED ALL OVER THE SOUTHWEST UNITED STATES DURING OUR MARRIED LIFE. ADJUSTING TO EVERYTHING MOVING INVOLVES LIKE NEW SCHOOLS, DOCTORS, FRIENDS ETC., AND EXPERIENCING DIFFERENT CULTURES, PREJUDICES AND LIFESTYLES HAS MADE US APPRECIATE DIVERSITY AS WELL AS MAKE US STRONGER INDIVIDUALS. FROM THOSE YEARS AND EXPERIENCES I HAVE LEARNED AND BELIEVE THAT --THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE AREN'T "THINGS"--

Why I am a Mormon

WHAY AM I A MORMON? I HAVE ASKED MYSELF THAT QUESTION AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND FOR DIFFERENT REASONS THROUGHOUT MY LIFE! IN MY EARLY LIFE IT WAS BECAUSE MY PARENTS WERE MORMON. SO I WAS TOO. I THEN WENT THROUGH TEENAGE AND YOUNG ADULT YEARS WHERE I DIDN'T FEEL IT NECESSARY TO GO TO, OR PARTICIPATE IN, CHURCH. IF SOMEONE ASKED ME I WOULD SAY I WAS MORMON I WAS JUST NOT ACTIVELY INVOLVED. AS I GOT A LITTLE MORE MATURE AND EXPERIENCED LIFE EVENTS, LIKE THE LOSS OF GRANDPARENTS, AND ESPECIALLY THE BIRTH OF MY FIRST CHILD, I NEEDED TO KNOW THE "WHYS" OF LIFE. I NEEDED TO KNOW IF I TRULY BELIEVED AND UNDERSTOOD THE TEACHINGS I HAD GROWN UP THINKING WERE TRUE I BEGAN READING, STUDYING AND PRAYING. I READ ABOUT SEVERAL BELIEFS, DISCUSSED THE RELIGIOUS BELIEFS OF PEOPLE IN OTHER FAITHS AND ASKED MANY QUESTIONS. I READ THE SCRIPTURES, AND WORDS OF MORMON SCHOLARS. THE ANSWERS THAT MADE SENSE WERE THE PRINCIPLES AND TEACHINGS OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. THE VERY THINGS THAT I HAD LEARNED AND BELIEVED WHEN I WAS YOUNGER. NOW THOUGH, I HAD SOUGHT THE KNOWLEDGE ON MY OWN AND HAD GAINED MY OWN TESTIMONY OF THE TRUTHFULNESS OF THE TEACHINGS. I MARRIED A CONVERT TO THE CHURCH AND WE WERE SEALED IN THE TEMPLE.

How I live my faith

I TRY TO LIVE MY FAITH BY LIVING THE WAY THAT OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST WOULD WANT ME TO LIVE. I TRY TO BE HONEST AND TRUTHFUL IN ALL OF MY DEALINGS. I PRAY FOR HELP IN IDENTIFYING AND THEN CHANGING MY BEHAVIORS AND THOUGHTS THAT MIGHT NOT BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH HIS TEACHINGS. I TRY TO FIND WAYS TO BE CHARITABLE AS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE LOVE THAT GIVING SERVICE BRINGS. MY HUSBAND AND I TEACH A SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS OF 8 AND 9 YEAR OLD CHILDREN. THEY ARE SO SMART AND MUCH CLOSER TO THE SPIRIT THAN I WAS WHEN I WAS YOUNG. IT IS AN INSPIRATION TO SEE THE NEXT GENERATION HAVING SUCH STRONG DESIRES TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES. THEY HELP ME WANT TO BE A BETTER PERSON AND TEACHER.
