Hi I'm Ellen

I'm a Mormon. I am a convert of 41 years and loving life! I know who I am and where I am going.

About Me

I am a dedicated mother of eight awesome children. I have been blessed to be a stay at home mother, which I absolutely love being involved with all my children's activities! Being an "empty nester" now I have found a new hobby of raising and breeding Border Collie puppies! This has helped with funding our children's missions who have gone all over the world telling others about the wonderful message of the gospel. I love going to visit my grandchildren and being a part of their lives. It's the best feeling! I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Coming from a broken home, I was in search of truth at a young age. I had many friends that were so happy and I wanted that in my life. I went to several churches in search of what I knew to be true and that is that there was a Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost, three separate beings. I couldn't find this in any of the churches I was searching until one day, sitting down with the Mormon missionaries, they explained about the three distinct beings. My ears perked up and I listened. I listened to the truth and knew I had found exactly what I was searching for!! This process was not so easy being a young teenager, being made fun of from all angles it seemed. My parents and family were very much against me getting baptized into the church, but I knew this is something I wanted very much and something I had been searching for. Long story short, I have been a member of the only true church now for 41 years. I have raised a large successful family of strong educated children in the gospel. I know who I am, I know God's plan and try to follow it each day. Life isn't all easy, it wasn't meant to be, but I love life and what Heavenly Father has in store for me.

How I live my faith

I love the scouting program of the church. I am a firm believer that scouting is a necessity for young boys and men. Scouting has purpose as the boys learn many aspects of life. I have always encouraged my four boys to participate in scouting and abide by the Scout Law to always be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty , brave, clean and reverent. My daughters were encouraged to also participate in programs to help them achieve these ideals as well. Once our children learn these characteristics, they are well set on their way of having the foundation they need to meet what life has to offer them. I have worked with youth all my adult life in coaching baseball, softball, swimming, soccer, singing, dancing, gymnastics, and being active in whatever my children's interest are. I love going to visit other women around me. Life is so busy and hectic but if I will take the time to just visit others, it makes my day go a lot better. Just a simple smile and hello can really lift another person having a bad day. I think we all get so caught up in our own lives that sometimes it seems impossible to do something so simple, so I make it a priority to at least do one thing for one person each day and sometimes it is only a smile or a phone call, or sticking a note in the mail to let someone know I am thinking about them. I try to remember "The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up." ~Mark Twain

What is the Book of Mormon?

Just as the Bible is a history of the Old World, the Book of Mormon is a history of North and South America. The Holy Bible talks about these two books in the book of Ezekiel 37:16-19 being used as one: 16: Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: 17: And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall be come one in thine hand. 18: And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? 19: Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Gad; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. It is plain and simple to see that the Holy Bible (stick and Judah) and the Book of Mormon (stick of Joseph) are to be used as one. The Book of Mormon is also the only book in the world that will tell you why there were Indians (Lamanites) on the American Continent when Columbus discovered America. These are only 2 facts among the thousands there are that prove the validity of the Book of Mormon. These are two simple truths that the missionaries shared with me 41 years ago when I was searching for the true church! Show more Show less
