Hi I'm Lana

I grew up in Northern California. I remember the missionaries coming to teach my family about the church, I loved it. I was seven.

About Me

I'm a mother of six children and a grandmother of 13, soon to be 14. I love to do genealogy, family history and find out about my ancestors. I love to help others search for their ancestors as well. Family time is one of my favorite things to do. I love spending time with my children and their families. My grandchildren are some of the dearest people in my life, and I hope I make good memories for them when they are around me. My husband is my best friend and we love to do things together, such as camping, fishing, gardening, traveling, biking and we always try and have a date night once a week.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember the missionaries coming to my home when I was seven years old. My mother was so excited about the the church and was reading everything the missionaries brought to her, she knew the church was true at that very moment. She shared with her brother and his family what she had found, the missionaries started teaching them, also. I asked if they had anything for me to read, they said yes and the next time they came they brought me the "Children's Friend". I loved having my mother read me the stories and I loved the paper dolls that were found in it each month. My mother and sibblings joined the church as well as my Uncle and his family, this was August of 1959, I was baptized after I turned eight in January 1960. My love for the gosple grew as I got older and so did my testimony. As a child and teenager, I loved the things that I learned and the people that I had as friends and teachers. It wasn't until I had my own family, that I realized just how important the church and gospel was to me. With all my heart I wanted my children to be taught the truthfulness of the gospel and have a strong foundation filled with true principles and values. I want you to know that I love the gospel with all my heart and I know that this is the only true church on this earth. The true meaning of happiness, joy and the true purpose of this earth life is found here in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that my family can be forever. An eternal family. I know that Heavenly Father knows me and loves me. I know that my Savior loves me as well, because of his sacrifice of the atonement for me. I can live with my family forever, after I leave this earth life, not just till death do me part from this mortal life. I don't have a lot of earthly possessions (stuff) that I value, but the one thing I do value and cherish in this life is my membership in this the only true church on this earth. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen

How I live my faith

I try and live my faith through service to others. The Lord has told us that when we are in the service of our fellow man, we are in the service of our God. One of my jobs or callings at church is Family History Consultant, that simple means I help others find or search out their ancestors, so that their temple work can be done, by proxy. So that they too can be saved and live eternally with their Heavenly Father. Sometimes I volunteer at the family history center in my area, helping members as well as non-members search out their ancestors. I also serve as companionate service leader, which means if a family is in need of help because of illness, death or some other trial that they are going through. I help organize a long with a committee, the sisters in our ward to take either food in, care for their children, help clean their home, give rides to the doctor or anything else that might be needed. I also try to live the Commandments that my Heavely Father has given me to live by. I try to attend my church meeting weekly, if I'm not in town than I try to find a meeting house to attend. I know that if I truly want to be happy I must try and live the gospel as close to what my Heavely Father wants me to live it. That mean I must do everything in my power to live a Christ like life. I know that I'm not going to live a perfect life, but my goal is to live the best that I can.
