Hi I'm Kayla

I'm a journalist, a wife, a laugher, and a go-getter. I love to create, I love to tell stories. And I love being Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Kayla! I absolutely love life, learning, and creating. I have a passion for journalism and for writing my books and most importantly for my family, friends, and church. I'm a new wife, which gives me just one more thing to add to my list of great loves.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Pentecostal and within a good Christian home, but all my life I had many questions that always went unanswered. There was something more, but I could never put my finger on it or even find it. My Freshman year of High School I met a young man in my same grade who started inviting me to his church. I knew he was Mormon so I kept saying no because my church preached against the Mormons. Year after year he kept inviting me, but also became my closest friend. He always had a glow about him, a surety of what he believed in. But I kept refusing to come. Eventually senior year rolled around and he was preparing to go to school and then soon after serve a mission. He called and asked me to join him for his last Sunday at church. I agreed to come and support him. Needless to say, I never left. I'm a stubborn person and usually it takes a lot to convince me, but as soon as I sat down, I realized I had never been where I was supposed to be until that moment. I quickly met the missionaries and asked to be baptized before I even got through half of the Book of Mormon. My immediate family soon followed suit after they read and prayed about it and knew it was true as well. Only weeks later we were baptized. Since getting baptized I've recognized God's hand in every detail of my life- whether it be help during a test, comfort during a hard time, or the day in which he sent me my husband from across a crowded room, He's always there. I know without a doubt that His plan is for me and that the pure and simple doctrines of His church are to bring me back to Heavenly Father. It's an eternal plan, and I know that day by day I'm not learning about the gospel and Christ, I'm simply remembering what I've known before. I love my Savior, my Father in Heaven, and the fact that all my questions are answered and I'm not lost anymore. I don't just believe, I know.

How I live my faith

For me, my faith isn't a Sunday faith. It's an every day life style. I attend church every sunday, but I also love to watch and listen to my church leaders when they speak to us via television or over the pulpit in person. It is so wonderful to know that we not only have our scriptures, but we have living prophets who are here to guide us and direct us. I'm a curious person and always have questions, so my entire life has been a journey of great learning- and I am blessed to have a church that always has the answers.
