Hi I'm Brent Sadleir

I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I'm an Outdoors Enthusiast, a Musician, and most definitely a Mormon!

About Me

I love Earth! Pretty much anything outdoors is my happy place. Growing up in Southern California, I spent a lot of time at the beach surfing and snorkeling. I played many sports but mostly claim volleyball. I served a full-time mission in the South Dakota Rapid City Mission and loved it! I'm living in Orem, UT now working for the family business and exploring the many hikes and fishing spots this state has to offer. I have a mom, dad, 3 sisters, and a brother that I can honestly say are my best friends! I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have come to know for myself that it is true. I love life and all there is to it, I love my family (and all there is to them:)), and I love the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but took it for granted for a time. When I began seeing myself headed down a bad road I turned to what I had been taught my whole life. I prayed and read the Book of Mormon to know if what the things I had been taught were true. As I did I began to apply the principles and values from the gospel of Jesus Christ in my own life and was transformed into the person I am today and am still becoming. I now know more than anything that our Father in Heaven loves us and has a plan for us. I know that at the center of that plan is His son Jesus Christ and that through Him and His atonement we can have joy and eternal life. I also know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have restored the fulness of the gospel on the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and that we have a living prophet today. I am grateful that through that restoration we have been blessed with the power and authority of God to perform sacred ordinances in which we can make covenants with our Father in Heaven and live for eternity with our families. In short I'm a Mormon because of the examples of my family and friends who helped me see that following Christ is the only way to go! I am a Mormon because I read, pondered, and prayed about the Book of Mormon and know that it is true.

How I live my faith

In the church I was called into to leadership positions from the time I was 12. I was given the responsibility to be an example to my friends in class and sometimes even help to teach lessons. When I turned 18 I was called to teach 8-11 year old children about the life of Jesus Christ and His gospel. I learned so much in that calling that will benefit me for the rest of my life. I've learned that living your faith is an everyday thing. It means that your faith is who you are. My faith is in Jesus Christ and His Atonement which means for me that I am striving to follow Him everyday. A personal goal that I have is to show everyone that you can have fun and live right at the same time! In fact you can have more fun while doing what's right than while not! I didn't always think that was true but have since experienced otherwise. This life is a time for us to prepare to meet God and it's only through Christ that we can do that. His Atonement made it possible for us to go from bad to good to better and that is what I'm working toward everyday!

In whom should we have faith?

Brent Sadleir
We need to have faith in Christ and the knowledge that He loves us. Everything He did was out of love: His example, the miracles He performed, the gospel He taught, the sacrifice He made, and all that He continues to do. His work and His glory is to bring to pass our "immortality and eternal life" (Moses 1:39). As we act on our faith in Him and live as He taught, following His example, we can have eternal life with our Father in Heaven and our families. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Brent Sadleir
It isn't that the things done in temples are secret but more that they are sacred. In temples we make covenants (a two-way promise) with God for ourselves and those that have past way. These covenants are special and we need to be worthy to be apart of them. Everyone is invited to enter the temple but there are steps that need to be made before we can. However once those steps are made and our lives are in accordance with the gospel we can enjoy the blessings of the temple. I know that my family has been strengthened as well as my personal testimony of the Savior from serving in the temple. Show more Show less
