Hi I'm Kristen

I'm an aspiring elementary school teacher. I love music, learning, and trying new things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated college in May with a degree in Elementary Education. Needless to say, I love teaching and working with kids. I've lived in Texas my whole life, but I love to visit other places. I have yet to visit outside the country, and I can't wait until I get the opportunity to travel. I love playing games and trying new things. Although I don't have the opportunity to participate in these activities very often, I really enjoy rock climbing and water sports, such as kneeboarding, wakeboarding, and waterskiing. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

For a majority of my life, I was a member of the Catholic church. After my parents divorce in my later teen years, my family stopped attending church, and I began to question the things I learned and what I believed. After a while, I just didn't give it much thought at all. Then, in 2009, a friend of mine introduced me to the church. I began taking the lessons with the sister missionaries and attending church. I was very careful to make sure that if I decided to be baptized, I would be doing it for myself and because of what I knew to be true. During my second lesson with the missionaries, questions were answered that I had had my entire life such as "Where was I and what was I doing before I came to the earth?" and "What happens after we die?" The lesson gave a whole new purpose to life, and I knew what was being taught was true. I could feel it. I continued to take lessons and gained more understanding and a greater desire to be a member. I was baptized in October of that year, which was the best decision of my life. My baptism has come to mean more and more to me over time as I have grown in my knowledge and testimony of the church. I know the church is true with all my heart, and I am so grateful to be a member. Since I've joined, I've been happier and more blessed than I've ever been in my life.

How I live my faith

I attend a young single adults ward where I live, and I have held two callings in the church since I joined. I have been a member of the committee to plan out monday night activities, or Family Home Evening, and I am currently one of the leaders in the program for the women in the ward. The other leaders and I discuss how we can better serve the women, who may be in need of help, what our church lessons should be, monthly activities, etc. This group of women, and the entire ward as a whole is a like a big family that anyone can turn to for support or in times of need. I love my calling and feel blessed to have it! I read my scriptures and look forward to continued growth and understanding of them. I try to attend the temple as often as possible, and it is an amazing experience every time. It truly is the house of the Lord.
