Hi I'm Becky

I'm a wife, mother, runner, and reader. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 19 years and have four beautiful children, ages 16,14,9, and 5. I am teaching my oldest to drive, sending my youngest off to kindergarten, and doing just about everything in between. It's a crazy, busy life and I love every minute of it! In my free time I love to read and bake but my favorite hobby is running. I started running a few years ago just for fun and fell in love with the sport. I am now training for my fourteenth half marathon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church and have always loved being a member. When I was a teenager I studied, read the Book of Mormon, prayed, and learned for myself that the church was true.I have since developed a deep love for the gospel. One thing I know without a doubt is that Jesus Christ suffered for us, not just for our sins but for all the sorrows and pains that we have in this life, and He died for us. He did this so that we can return to live in the presence of God someday. I'm a Mormon because I know that no matter what trials we have in life, God will always be there to get us through. He has given us a plan that will help us to return to be with Him again someday, with our families.

How I live my faith

I love being a Mormon! Currently I work with the children in my congregation and it is such a blessing to see them every Sunday. They are so sweet and they love learning about the gospel and Jesus Christ. They have such a simple faith. When I tell them that God loves them, they believe it without question! Even though I am supposed to be teaching them, they are the ones who teach me. My faith is a little stronger every time I am with them. I am also a member of our women's organization and love interacting with other women who share my faith. The best part about our group is visiting teaching. I (with a partner) have four women in our congregation that I visit each month. The purpose is to share a spiritual message and to see how they are doing. But it ends up being so much more! I have become friends with these women and have grown to love them. This is our church's way of making sure that everyone is taken care of, and it works! I especially enjoy giving service, whether it's taking a meal to a family, helping with childcare, or just listening when someone needs to talk. Our group often gives service to the community. My favorite project was collecting school supplies for a local low income school. One way I live my faith is by keeping the sabbath day holy. I believe that Sunday is a day to rest and worship. This means that there are a lot of things I don't do on Sunday. My children don't attend birthday parties or play sports on Sunday and we don't shop on the sabbath. I don't run on Sunday so I am always on the lookout for races that are on other days. But Sunday is my favorite day of the week because there are so many things that I can do. I attend church with my family and we spend the whole day together without other obligations getting in the way. We go on walks together and just enjoy being together as a family. I love having one day a week that is different from the other days, where I can re-charge and focus on God and family.
