Hi I'm Jeff

I'm a husband. I'm a father. I help the hard of hearing. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in graduate school studying audiology. I hope to help others cope with hearing loss as I have done in my own life. I am a father and husband. I enjoy watching baseball and even collecting baseball cards. I also enjoy the study of insects known as entomology. As a family we like to camp and spend lots of time together. I just took up triathlons which has been a great way to keep in shape.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was eight years old. I still remember my dad taking my hand into the baptismal font and performing the baptism. I was so happy to know that I was following Jesus' example from the New Testament. I knew at that point that the LDS church had much to offer me and my family. Since then I've been involved with the church because it offers teachings on all levels for all members. For example, it teaches how a family can be together beyond the grave and what exactly we need to do to accomplish that goal. This means a lot to me and my wife. We are both grateful that the Lord has provided such instruction today through prophets just as He did with people we read of in the Bible.

How I live my faith

I teach a class of 8-9 year olds in Sunday school. I love the opportunity to teach about Jesus and Heavenly Father on a weekly basis. This is probably one of the things I love most about the church--there are specific callings you can receive from time to time. It turns out that these callings really help one to grow spiritually. Outside of church I enjoy helping others who have hearing loss. Each year we help 100s of kids and adults get hearing aid devices who otherwise could not afford them (here in the States or places abroad such as Mexico). I have learned that serving others is a way to become more and more like Jesus.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a prophet back in the early part of the 19th century. When I first heard the story of his seeing God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ I was drawn to it immensely. So, I pondered it and really prayed to God to know if indeed he had once called this Joseph Smith to bring back Christ's church one last time and to begin a wonderful work that would benefit all of God's children. He was a good man. A really good man. You can read a quasi biography of him in History of the Church (mainly volumes I-V). Know that he is not worshiped in the church. He was as much a man as any other, but was greatly blessed to bring about many great things in these last days. Show more Show less
