Hi I'm Travis

I'm a College student who loves America and would rather sleep in my hammock under the stars than in a bed, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My perfect weekend would include family, friends, Mexican food, sleeping under the stars in my hammock, playing sports with friends, and water skiing. When It's not the weekend I'm a business finance student that hopes to attend law school and study mergers and acquisitions. I love exploring and learning. Enjoying the outdoors with family and friends has always been important to me. I grew up in Washington but lived in Southern Mexico for two years where I learned to love diversity of all types. In mexico I lived with the poorest of poor and was the happiest I've ever been. When I had nothing I learned what having everything really means.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, it has helped me gain a deep personal relationship with my Savior. Through studying the Book of Mormon I have come to know that Jesus knows me perfectly and that he wants to help me. when I was a little boy I loved Soccer and I was asked to play soccer on Sunday. The coach knew that I would not agree to play on Sundays so he got all of the players together and explained that we are a team and that we need to support each other, he than asked what was more important, supporting my team or going to church one Sunday. I responded, "Well Duh, going to church, that's what's important to God." Since then I have found that when I put God first I'm happy. Studying the book of Mormon and learning about the savior Jesus Christ gave me the strength to do what was important to God when I was young and it continues to give me strength as I grow up.

How I live my faith

I try to become a better Disciple of Jesus Christ every day. I try not judge people and just help them out. I was a missionary for two years in southern Mexico, Chiapas, and love to teach others about Christ. More than anything I live my faith by repenting every day of my sins and try to make it easyer for others to do the same.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Increasing faith in Christ requires that we learn about him and his atonement through personal experience. Only God can tell you what you need to do but I will share with you what has helped me. The first, and most important, thing I have done to increase my faith in Jesus Christ is repenting of my sins. To have faith in Christ you must try to use his atonement in your life. Studying the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, focusing on the life and atonement of Christ has provided me with the knowledge I need to change my wrongful actions. Third, I have looked for opportunities to serve other in very personal ways. The more time I spend serving others the better I have understood the purpose of Christs earthly ministry. Lastly once I repented of my sins and decided that I wanted to follow Christ I made covenants, or promises with God. Baptism is the first covenant I made with God and has helped me throughout my life to stay focused on what is really important. Show more Show less
