Hi I'm Joel

I grew up in the Phoenix, Arizona area. I'm a banker, I'm married and a father of 4 daughters, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

From a very young age, I have enjoyed playing musical instruments, including piano, guitar and drums. I enjoyed jam sessions with my brothers and my friends in garages and basements. In my college years, I married a wonderful woman who I knew in high school and we are parents to three (with one more on the way) beautiful, crazy girls. I graduated from Arizona State University. I work at a widely recognized bank and I aspire to be an entrepreneur. In my free time I enjoy water sports, wake boarding and skiing, and snowboarding. I also enjoy learning about other cultures and people and have had the opportunity to live outside of the United States of America for a time.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I need the Savior, Jesus Christ, in my life. My mother and father were members of the church, but when I was in my early teens, I had some challenges that made me really ponder what I had faith in. Through studying the Book of Mormon and the Bible and through answers to prayer, I came to know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way to achieve true joy. It is a great blessing to know that there is a prophet alive today! I still face challenges in my life, and I know that they help me to learn and grow. But I know that I can trust in Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father to help me and support me. The challenges that I face are such that I need the support that I receive from other members in my local congregation. Each time I am in a class at church, I am strengthened by their testimonies and their faith. I also need opportunities to serve others, because it helps me to be truly happy instead of focusing on my own challenges only. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to find ways to help my neighbors when I notice that they are working on a project outside or if they mention that they will be moving, etc. I have come to know some families in my neighborhood quite well by visiting them and offering to help where needed. I also help take care of financial record keeping for the local unit of my church. I think that the most important ways that I live my faith revolve around my family. I try to maintain happy relationships with my wife and my daughters by thinking of ways to serve them and then doing it. My wife and I try to teach our daughters the importance of being kind to others and making wise choices. We teach them about Jesus Christ and we try to teach them to follow Him. Although we have challenges in our family, we are trying to keep our focus on Jesus Christ and his teachings.
