Hi I'm McKenna

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have never lived anywhere but Washington. I have not traveled a lot, and even though I hate the constant cloud cover, I often take for granted that I live in one of the most beautiful areas in the United States. My dream is to someday travel to many different places with people I love. My family is what is most important to me. I could not ask for better parents. My best friends are my three brothers, my younger sister, and our cute Beagle! I am a senior in high school and am hoping to be accepted to attend Brigham Young University after I graduate. I have a few ideas of what I want to study in college, but because I am the most indecisive person on this planet, it will be a while before I decide on one. Something I love to do is to be outside! I love to walk to the park with my dog, go hiking, running, camping, ride bikes, and play soccer. I also love listening to music, reading, taking pictures, watching movies, and going on road trips.

Why I am a Mormon

Some people may say that because I have been going to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since I was little, that I simply conformed to the gospel, rather than believing it for myself. This is not true. There are times when I have to be honest with myself and ask rather or not I truly have faith in this or that. Gaining a testimony is a process. A testimony of the entire gospel will not come all at once; rather, it comes precept upon precept. I have learned through my own experiences that testimony requires a desire for the truth of one precept, testing it, and then praying about it. Though I don't have a perfect testimony of everything, I am continually working on it through scripture study, prayer, and going to church. Through the Holy Ghost, I have a testimony that by being sealed to my family in the temple, we have the opprotunity to live together forever. I know that we have a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who leads and guides us today, along with his apostles. I believe that by keeping the commandments God has given me, I can be happy and make it through any trial thrown my way. Most of all, I have faith that Christ atoned for our sins so that we may be able to repent and return to our Heavenly Father someday.

How I live my faith

I serve in my ward because I am the class president of the young women. I get to go to meetings with the presidents of the other youth classes, and also with the bishop and his presidency. It is fun to plan and organize activities and also find ways to serve others in the ward or share the gospel. I love everyone in the young women's classes. We are all good friends and I enjoy seeing them every morning at seminary (early morning scripture class), every Wednesday for fun church activities and, of course, every Sunday.
