Hi I'm Mike

I'm a Mormon. I am from Colorado

About Me

I'm a husband, father, father-in-law, builder, contractor, baseball nut, I climb mountains, I collect antique photographs, I raise quarter horses. Of all the many things that define me by far the most important is my family. I am married to a rock star. We have the perfect daughter and twin boys who arrived quite miraculously. I work everyday to do everything I can to ignore rheumatoid arthritis and I have a life long love affair with Benihana salad dressing.

Why I am a Mormon

"The soul that rises with us, Our life's star, hath had elsewhere its setting, And cometh from afar, Not in entire forgetfulness, And not in utter nakedness, But trailing clouds of glory do we come, From God who is our home." I have had too many times in my life when I knew that my Father in heaven was teaching me, leading me, guiding me, to ever deny that I am a child of God. When I have been trying my best to do his work, just serving others or sharing my feelings about our Savior, Jesus Christ, there is a feeling that I am touching something bigger than the universe. I know that I have been shown where to go and I know that I have been told what to say. I know that we are each in his tender care. That he has a Plan. I know that everything I have is a gift from him. I know that we are all sons and daughters of loving Heavenly parents. And that each of us has infinite worth to them. I know that my freedom to choose to follow Jesus Christ is the only thing that I have that is truly mine to give. I know that he hears you. I know that good will triumph over evil. CS Lewis said, "You don't have a soul, You are a soul. You have a body." Surrender to beauty. Surrender to simplicity. Let him guide you. Our God will never us forsake.

How I live my faith

I don't go to church every Sunday looking for a grand spiritual experience. I go to church looking for opportunities to serve others. I have volunteered in so many varied ways. I have been a missionary, I have taught lessons, worked with toddlers, children, youth, adults, kids with cerebral palsy, the homeless, recovering addicts. I have coached teams, taught skiing. I have been a mission leader. I have climbed mountains, camped, trekked, helped people move. I have done construction, painted, decorated, cooked, served, cleaned up and done the dishes. I really don't know any Mormons who couldn't say the same as me. Right now I am helping my friends Trey(10), Aiden(8), Grace(6), Jeffery(4), and Kaylee(3). I pick them up each week for church. I help Trey and Aiden with scouts. Full disclosure- they are helping me more than I help them.
