Hi I'm David

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play golf. I really enjoy basketball. I own a retail sport shop. I am a managing partner in a recycling company. I droped out of college because I got Hepatitus from getting my wisdom teath out. I guess that you could say that they took out more than just my wisdom with that procedure. I love my wife and 5 children. Star Wars is the best franchise of movies and toys ever! although I do enjoy watching the Lord of the Rings as well. I like video games, there is still that nerd in me!

Why I am a Mormon

I hated growing up as a Mormon, or so I thought. I did not like standing out at school and other kids telling me what i believed or did not believe. When I turned 19 I decided not to serve a mission, and spent the next 2 years pretty much doing what ever I wanted to instead of serving the Lord. I thought that I would be happy, but I was not. Answering to no one and getting and doing everything that I wanted, did not bring me any joy! My room mate decided to join the Mormon church and one morning he had left his book of mormon on the table. I had nothing else to read while eating my breakfast, so I opened up his scriptures. I immediatly turned to Mosiah 2:41 which reads consider the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For they are truly blessed in all things both temperal and spritiual. I did consider this promise and I felt something, something familar and peacefull. I was reminded of who I really was, and what I could be doing and feeling about my life. I did return to the Gospel then, and with full purpose of hearth ever since. I am happier now than I ever could have imagined. I can do more, think more and accomplish more than I ever dreamed of. And all thru the blessings and Knowledge promissed to those that live the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Well one of the most obvious ways that I choose to stand out for Christianity is that I keep both of my businesses closed on the Sabbath Day. In my sporting goods business, that is very unique in my area. It creates many opportunities to bear my testimony of this special day. Most likely my greatest contribution to the society currently, is my opportunity to serve on a church committee that oversee's 3 different addiction recovery support groups. It has been excellent to be able to help others catch a vision of change and to see it thru. The principle of Hope is so fantastic and so crucial to be able to change. I beleive with all of my heart that anyone can change with the strength of the Lord.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Eternal Life is the promise from our Lord that those that make and keep sacred covenants can return to the presence of our God and live with him for eternity as families. This doctrine has brought me much peace as my wife and I started a family that has grown five strong. When my grandparents passed away, I felt a sort of peace knowing that I would see them again and be with them again. I love and appreciate the hope that the promise of Eternal life has brought into my life. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

I always feel sad when people say this about me and my family. I think that there is much confusion in the Christian world about who is and who is not a Christian. I know that I beleive that Jesus Christ is my Lord and my Savior. I beleive in God the eternal Father and in his son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. I beleive the words of the Apostle Paul who taught that we are saved thru grace after all that we can do. I know that I hold myself to this standard of trying my hardest to do all that I can. I know that I can not earn my way into heaven, but I can earn my way out of it. So I will be needing mercy, just like everyone else. But I also have the confidence of knowing that I have made and keep sacred covenants like Baptism by immersion, a Temple marriage where I was Sealed to my wife for time and all eternity.
