Hi I'm Chris Thomas

I practice law in Denver, Colorado. I have four beautiful children and an incredible wife. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid skier and runner. A few years ago, my family and I lived in Lexington, Kentucky. I had a successful legal practice and felt that I would remain there for the rest of my life. One day, my wife approached me and told me she wanted to move to Denver to teach the kids to ski. It was a highly successful sales pitch, leading us to pursue a job with a large law firm, land the job, and relocate the family to this beautiful part of the country. We've had a wonderful experience in Colorado. We ski on weekends during the winters, and we hike on weekends during the summers. Our family loves the outdoors, and we love to spend time together. Colorado has been the perfect place for us.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family who were Mormons. Nonetheless, like anyone else searching for truth, I reached a point where I had to learn for myself whether this is the true church. For me, that moment hit when I was 19. I still remember my personal quest. I studied the scriptures and the story about Joseph Smith, and I prayed to know whether the Book of Mormon and the Joseph Smith story were true. I received a powerful response. It felt as if a light entered into my heart. It eventually filled my entire body and hammered home the fact that these things are true. I have had many similar experiences since this initial one. It appears God recognizes that we need occasional refresher courses. In any event, in light of these experiences, I know these things are true. I know this is the true church. And I know anybody else can receive similar experiences. I ended up serving a Mormon mission in Argentina. It was a beautiful experience. Time and time again, I saw other people pray and receive answers to their prayers about this church. The church provides the perfect environment to raise a family. Our children have friends who share their values and moral standards. Together, they work to be strong together and to lift one another up during difficult stages in life. I have seen the joy the church brings them and thank God that we have this blessing in our lives.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in a leadership position over the men in our ward. It's a very rewarding experience for me. I get to teach lessons at church, visit with the members of our group (and their families), organize activities that are designed to bring us together and help us strengthen one another, and enjoy a comraderie that I have not found elsewhere in life. I love working with these men. They're such good examples to me, and they're such a source of strength for me.
