Hi I'm Andy von Harten

I'm a husband, a father, I love the outdoors and fixing things, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the father of three wonderful children, husband to an amazing woman and we've been together for nine years. I enjoy rock climbing, camping, fixing things and improving our home.

Why I am a Mormon

As I've lived my life, I've always tried to follow what Heavenly Father has wanted me to do. I felt even from a young age that there was a purpose and reason for me to be here on Earth, and I've tried to follow His guidance. Each day, amidst all the uncertainty in the world, with the traditional moral values deteriorating I find the teachings of Jesus Christ give me peace and strength to stand up for what I know is right. I'm a Latter-day Saint because in the Church I learn how to be a better husband, father, and son, member of the community. The Church has the same organization as the church that Jesus set up when he was on the earth. I feel the Holy Ghost warm my heart as I attend services each week. The Church is guided by an inspired prophet who was chosen by God. My parents joined the church before I was born. They were active in their Protestant faith. When my aunt introduced them to the Book of Mormon, they were curious. After reading the Book of Mormon and other books, they felt the teachings were true and from God. Amidst near complete rejection from their family they followed what they knew was right and since our family's lives have been changed for the better forever.

How I live my faith

Being a Latter-day Saint is a big part of my daily and weekly life. I strive to read scriptures like the Bible and the Book of Mormon each day. We pray as a family and take time each week for a family night where we have a small lesson and do some activity together. I have been asked to help lead the men in our congregation and we have a lesson each Sunday after the main worship service. Every day I try to keep my thoughts virtuous, upstanding, and wholesome. We look for good, clean fun as a family and as a married couple. I enjoy visiting with other members each months as I visit their home in a program called "Home Teaching." It's a way to help make sure everyone is taken care of.
