Hi I'm Summer

I am from Mainland China. I taught English in China and taught Chinese in Thailand. I am a wife and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Chinese who lives in Kirkland, USA with my family. I used to be an English teacher in China and I taught Chinese when I was in Thailand for 2 years where I met and joined the church. I was volunteerly teaching English to Chinese in Seattle's China Town area before I had my first baby this June, and I loved it. I love doing volunteer work. I speak Chinese Mandarin, Cantonese, English and some Thai. I love learning languages. Now I am very lucky to be a stay-home mom. I love my family, my wonderful husband and my little boy.

Why I am a Mormon

I had a good job and an easy life in China before I moved to Thailand, where I met the church and finally became one of Heavenly Father's daughters. People didn't understand why I was so passionate about leaving China for Thailand. Neither did I. I was not sure about what was going to happen at that time but I always felt the power which pushed me to do what I wanted to. In Thailand I taught Chinese and I really loved living there. I then met two wonderful friends who happened to be Mormons. Their spirits were so strong that I couldn't resist to find out what made them so special. My journey with the Gospel then unfolded. One of my best friends in the church told me that the spirit had born witness to me that I had been "plucked" out of China and placed in Thailand to receive His gospel and be an instrument in His hands for the rest of my life. Looking back, I have been thankful for Heavenly Father every day for his guidance.

How I live my faith

I pray and read my scripture every day, and attend church on Sundays. There are also some cutural and seasonal activities in the church. We help each other in the church and outside the church too. I am assigned to visit several women every month to share gospel messages with them and to offer help when needed. Equivalently I am also visited by two other women and two guys in my church every month. I was thrown a fabulous baby shower by women in my church, which was a totally new experience to me.
