Hi I'm Bret

I've been married to my wife for six years. We have two kids. I work in the construction industry. I love gardening. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a Mormon. My belief in a loving Heavenly Father and and His Son helped me make important choices as a teenager that would help shape who I am today. After I graduated High school I forewent college so I could work and save money to serve a mission. less than a year after I graduated I was on my way to West Africa to spend two years sharing a message of God's love... in French. The day after I got home I spent a few hours with my old girlfriend and realized right away that she was everything I wanted in a wife and more. I proposed a week and a half later and ten weeks after that we were married. It took a lot of faith and trust to get married so quickly but we've never regretted it. I once again forewent college during the first year of our marriage so she could finish her degree. After she was done with school and our first child was born it was finally the right time for me to pursue my schooling. I got my degree in construction management while working for a concrete company which has become the career I plan to keep for a long time. during my last year in college we had our second child. During the past year I've been at home unable to work from injury. I've always enjoyed spending time with family. My wife, myself and my kids like to garden together, growing mostly vegetables. With spending so much time restricted to my house over the passed year I have been spending more time playing Halo.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that God is my Heavenly Father and that He loves me. I know that Jesus is the Christ - the only One that can bring us true happiness in this life and the greatest joy after this life. I know these things through exploration and sincere prayer to my Father in Heaven. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it'll help anyone who searches it sincerely to have a closer relationship with Christ. I know because I've read it and asked God for His opinion on it. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I have learned through study and prayer that it is where God wants me to be. This Church is literally Christ's Church; He is at it's head. Through the Book of Mormon and Christ's Church I have become a better husband, father, son, neighbor, and citizen. They've brought my family closer. My faith and hope in Christ make me happy no matter what I'm going through.

How I live my faith

My love and gratitude towards God has been a guiding factor in my life. Like everyone else, I've gone through some really hard times in my life. Through all the pain, sorrow and failure I try to keep moving forward with a smile. In more than a handful of experiences I've been pushed to what I thought was my breaking point, but the Lord always saves me; it might be through strength, guidance, knowledge, forgiveness or even through the help that others give, the Lord has always provided a way. I try to do what He want in all aspects of my life so I can be worthy of His help. I know that God loves everyone because He is truly the Father of our spirits. For Him i try to be kind and helpful to everyone around me and as I try my eyes are opened to see all the things that others do for me. While both serving and being served my love for God and everyone around me increases. I love to read scriptures. So much that I know, I learned while reading them. I especially love scripture that specifically talks about Christ. When I read or hear testimony about Him my heart burns with peace and joy. I also love going to services at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon church). I haven't been able to attend any services recently because of my injury. I really look forward to when I can start attending again so I can hear people testifying about Christ and teaching His Gospel. Faith in Christ also plays an essential role in my home. My wife, my kids and I pray often together. we try to treat each other with love and kindness. Once a week we take time to pray and sing together and talk about Christ and what He's done for us. I gained my faith in Christ by praying, and I see my oldest child doing the same thing. I learn from my kids everyday.
