Hi I'm Randy

I grew up in Texas but enjoy my life in San Diego. I'm a Staffing Manager. I love making others laugh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Lets start with what is most important to me, besides my Faith, and that is my family. I have 4 beautiful children, and one on the way! I am a happily married man to the most beautiful and incredible woman a man could wish for. I have 2 girls (that live in Texas), ages 11 and 16, and my wife and I have a girl (6) and a boy (2) and another little girl on the way. As you may have guessed, this is my second chance at having the eternal family I've always dreamed about. I enjoy my career as a Talent Acquisition Manager. I've been doing recruiting now for 18 years now. It is very gratifying work, since I make people smile daily when I call and tell them they got the job! But I love making people smile in other ways as well. I'm a part time actor and enjoy the stage as well as the small and big screen. So every once in a while I do my best in creating smiles when acting. I also love music. I've been playing the guitar and singing since I was 14. I love being creative and making up songs on the fly with funny lyrics just to watch my kids faces light up, and sometimes my wife's too. I'm a sports fanatic as well. I don't play volleyball and softball and flag football as much as I used to, but love to find the time to stay active, though I seem to manage to find the time to stay up with my favorite baseball, football, basketball, and hockey teams on TV and the internet. ;-)

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a different faith as a child. Things at home growing up were anything but ideal. Coming from a split family I had a very hard time adjusting as I got older in my teens, so at the age of 16 I left home to stay the summer with my mother's sister and her husband and 5 boys in Brigham City, Utah. I had never in my life felt so welcomed by a community than I did when staying with my Aunt and Uncle. I was amazed as I watched how my Aunt and Uncle would interact with their children, my cousins. How they counseled them and gave direction. This was much different than the environment I was accustomed to. The bond and love was so powerful and so strong that I wanted to be a part of it. So I decided to stay my senior year of high school and gave up all my friends I had made the past several years and decided this way of life was much more important to me. And though I was already attending church with my Aunt and Uncle through the summer, since I was staying my senior year with them they asked if would take the discussions from the missionaries to learn even more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While taking the discussions about the Church my mind was opened to so many different things, but what was so strange was that I felt I had heard them all before. As if I had finally come home to something I've known all along. I remember after the third or fourth discussion one of the missionaries asked if I'd take the time and kneel in prayer in private and ask my Father in Heaven if what they were telling me was true and if the Book of Mormon was true. I had never known that I could ask and receive an answer before from God, but I promised that I would. It was that night when kneeling down in humble prayer that I felt the most wonderful feeling and knew assuredly how important this Gospel was and the truth and sacredness it held for the entire world. It was then I knew I needed to be part of the true and everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Currently I'm in our Elder's Quorum Presidency. The Elders Quorum is basically Sunday School for men. It last for about 45 minutes and each week instructions are given by various people to speak on topics that best help fathers and husbands. What's great about this quorum of men is that it is an open forum that all to participate in and give accounts of personal stories related to the topic. I learn so much each week in my Elder's Quorum. I have held many other church callings throughout my 30 years as a Latter Day Saint (Mormon). From Ward Activities Chairman, Sunday School teacher for 5 year olds, 11/12 years olds, 13/14 year olds, 15/16 year olds, and many other callings. I love living my Faith. I love the testimony that I have and having the knowledge of exactly why I'm here on earth, where exactly I came from, and where exactly I am going. There is no mystery anymore. And given the knowledge that I have, it makes is easier to live my life in accordance to how my Father in Heaven has asked all his children to live.
