Hi I'm Shauri

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Harpist, amateur photographer, gardner, and a wife and mother. I was born and raised in Utah and have always been adventurous when it comes to traveling. So when the oppurtunity came to work in New York when i was 18, I couldn't resist. This is the single greatest decision I have ever made; it was in New York that I met my husband. We have four children who make life fun and never dull. I love photography, and I travel as much as I can, taking advantage of the different cultures to photograph and learn from. I can often be found on a college campus taking classes. I just finished a cooking class, and my family is grateful! I have recently taken up cycling and share this hobby with my husband. I love the beach, and I enjoy the mountains in the summer. I don't like the cold even though I grew up skiing and have lived in Chicago, New York, Utah and Colorado. I can't resist good chocolate. I love the holidays so Christmas music starts playing in our house in September which drives my teenagers crazy. I dream of serving a mission with my husband someday and being a grandma. In my travels, I want to stay at Giraffe Manor in Africa, spend my summers in France, and take more college classes. I look forward to the future and being with those I love. My favorite moment is when I met my husband. My greatest achievement is my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a descendent of some of the first members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have a heritage that stretches generations and one that I am honored to be a part of. Having said that I must also state that I came to a point in my life where I too wanted to know for myself why I was a Mormon. I had the opportunity to work in New York near some of the historical sites of the church. A group of church friends and I took a trip to Palmyra, New York to Joseph Smith’s farm home and the Sacred Grove where God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to young Joseph Smith, which began the restoration of the gospel—the same gospel Jesus taught as recorded in the New Testament. I wanted to know without any doubt that what happened in that small grove of trees really took place. I prepared by reading the Book of Mormon. I fasted, and upon arrival at the Sacred Grove, I took time to find a quiet, private area where I could talk with my Father in Heaven. I desired to know that what I had been taught all my life was the truth and that there is a purpose to this earth life. I received my answer that day by the power of the Holy Ghost and now have raised my children with the gospel teachings. The generations continue, and I am grateful for the understanding and guidance I have because of this knowledge.

How I live my faith

My faith is in everything I do. The principles I have been taught and the temple covenats I have made govern my decisions and my actions. Although at times my actions fall short of my intent, my knowledge of why we are here on this earth and of the sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ, are the center and focal point of my life.
