Hi I'm Leanna

I'm a wife and mother of four kids, a registered nurse, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love anything outdoors--camping, hiking, canoeing--but especially water skiing. One of my favorite things while growing up was waking up at the crack of dawn to get the glassy water at the lake. I love to play volleyball. I love playing games--cards or board games--I'm always up for a game night. My weakness is dessert--I have a pretty big sweet tooth. I love to cook but wish there was a magic fairy to clean up the mess. I love being organized but seldom feel like I am with four kids... and a dog... can't forget him. :) I graduated with my degree in nursing and am still earning my degree in motherhood. I enjoy working as a nurse a couple times a month, and am grateful for the rest of the time I get to spend with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to church every Sunday and went because I thought that's what everyone did. I was taught, both at home and at church, to study the scriptures and to pray. I was taught that Heavenly Father will bless me if I keep His commandments and that the Holy Ghost will testify of the truth. I specifically remember singing in church with a group of young women and as I was singing a song about Christ, I felt a warm feeling from my head to my toes and knew that was the Holy Ghost testifying to me what I was singing was true--that Jesus is my Savior and that He lives. As I got older I realized it was MY choice--I didn't have to go to church or read the scriptures or pray. But I wanted to because it brought happiness in my life. And more than that, as I read the scriptures, specifically the Book of Mormon, I continued to feel that same warm feeling--the Holy Ghost--testifying to me that what I was reading was true. I love knowing that I am a daughter of God--that He has a plan for me here on this earth--that He loves me and wants me to be happy. Because He knew I would make mistakes, He sent His Son to show me the perfect example of how I should live my life. And He died for me--and every person on this earth--to make up for what I lack so that I can return and live with Him and my family forever. There is no greater gift or deeper manifestation of love than comes from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He didn't send us here on earth to blindly find our way back to Him. He has given us the words of prophets in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, He has blessed us with a living prophet today, He has blessed us with family and friends, and He has blessed us with the power of prayer and the guidance of the Holy Ghost. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's restored church on the earth today. And that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now I have the opportunity of organizing the music in our church meetings. Music is a powerful tool that can open the windows of heaven. Some of the times that I have felt the spirit the strongest have been through listening to and singing the sacred hymns. I am also able to visit other women in their homes and make sure their needs are met. We are there to help if needed and to share a spiritual message. It is a wonderful and inspired way to make sure others in our community are well, physically and spiritually.
