Hi I'm Hal

I cherish my family, enjoy serving others, like performing uplifting music, and have been a Mormon since 1981.

About Me

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. I served in the U.S. Air Force, worked in the aluminum industry, and eventually completed college in my 30's. I worked professionally as a public relations director for a statewide health association. I acted as a liaison with the public, legislature, media, and various health professions. My favorite task was to educate members on being better communicators. I also enjoyed providing consumer health education and serving on a state drug abuse education task force. Most recently, I have been in website design, which I enjoy as it allows me to exercise my communication, advertising, and marketing skills, as well as my creative nature. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has brought tremedous joy and blessings to my life and the life of my family. I love music and I have learned to take every opportunity to share this talent with which I have been blessed. Whenever I have an opportunity to perform or participate in presenting music, I do my best to share an uplifting message or a positive spiritual message. One of my greatest joys has been serving in the Lord's church in many roles and in my community. When I am in the service of others, I tend to worry less about stresses in my life. I have to mention my wife because she is another great strength to me and never ceases to always be there to encourage and have faith in me and our two beautiful daughters.

Why I am a Mormon

After 2 years of marriage and attending another church, my wife and I began to feel like we were looking for further insight into the Lord's plan for us. We visited some other churches, but were not feeling like these were what we were seeking. After a few months and visits to other churches, we were invited to meet with a friend of my wife and her husband in another town to hear more about their church. We learned about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Lord's plan for our family, His great love for us, and the history of the people written about in the Book of Mormon. It seemed to make sense and the teachings fit with the teachings of the Holy Bible, but we wanted to know if we should be baptized and join this church. We subsequently prayed to our Heavenly Father, to allow the Holy Spirit to let us know what to do. I was filled with only one message - that I needed to be baptized and join this church. I knew it so strongly through the Spirit that there was no question remaining.

How I live my faith

We have lived our marriage and raised our children to love Jesus Christ and know His teachings. We have had challenges in our life, but have always remembered that everything good we have and every blessing we receive in this life comes from a loving and merciful Heavenly Father. I have the hope and faith to know that the Lord will buoy us up and that His angels will be there to carry and help us when we are in times of trouble or sadness. Many wonderful people both in and out of this church have helped me to grow, find purpose in this life, and experience joy in following His teachings. I know that with the Lord's help, we can endure to the end of this mortal life and can be reunited as families in the life to come. My faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and my family are the most important things in my life.
