Hi I'm Sarah

I am a wife & mother. I teach German. I love to run, hike, and climb. Indoors, I love to read, write, cook, and sew. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In any free time I have, I have a variety of hobbies. My husband and I love being in the outdoors, specifically hiking, running, and rock climbing. When I am indoors, I LOVE reading, writing, cooking, sewing, and playing games with families and friends . We have a son who is a year and a half. We also enjoy spending time with our combined 30+ nephews and nieces!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 9 years old, my mom died in a tragic car accident. Eight months later, my dad died as well. I was mature enough at the time to turn in desperation to God asking him if the church I'd been going to my whole life was true. I got down on my knees at that time and asked to know the truth. I felt a warmth in my heart knowing that the church is true, that I would be with my parents again. I have had many struggles since then, but because of my faith in Jesus Christ, I receive strength to learn through those trials and to grow stronger every day.

How I live my faith

When I wake in the morning, no matter how tired I am, I start my day with a prayer. I find this gives me strength and guidance to teach 150 high school students everyday! In my church congregation, I am one of the leaders over our women's organization. I love getting to know these amazing women. Having the opportunity to learn together and serve each other lifts me up and strengthens me. My husband and I also pray together, worship together, and study the scriptures together. This has strengthened our marriage and helped us to focus on the things that matter rather than getting caught up in things like dishes and laundry.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

I love the temple. Sadly, I think that many people outside of the church have misconceptions about the temple and the purpose of them. Because they are sacred, people confuse that with secret. Temples are not secret and are available to any WORTHY member of the church. Due to the sacredness of the temple, this means that members who attend need to obey the commandments and other moral guidelines to be eligible to go so that the Spirit of the Lord can be ever present there. I am so grateful for these moral guidelines and for the opportunity that I have to attend the temple knowing and feel the peace that can only be felt in the House of the Lord. The purpose of temples is to perform ordinances. Some of the ordinances are done by-proxy for those who have passed on, while some are done for those living. Temples also are a place of learning and instruction. They differ from church worship in that members go when they have an opportunity to go. People also go to the temple to pray and receive answer to prayers in a place that is peaceful and where the Spirit of the Lord is ever-present. It's nice to step away from the demands of the world and feel the peace that our Heavenly Father provides for us in the temples. Show more Show less
