Hi I'm Clarissa

I'm a miner, geologist, adventurer, graduate student, wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love geology. Ever since I was little I wanted to be a geologist and work in a mine. In college I met my husband, and we both ended up majoring in geology and working in the mining industry. We both are attending the local university to get a graduate degree in mining engineering. We love caving, rock climbing, hiking, and adventuring together.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up LDS. My parents went to church every week and taught me about Jesus Christ. In high school, I attended a church seminary class. I went almost everyday and as the teacher taught my class, I gained a testimony of Christ's divinity and his love for us. He loves us so much, that he he died for us. His death and resurrection created a path for us to find our way back, and to fulfill our fullest potential as God's children. When I graduated with my bachelor's degree, I didn't know what was going to happen and neither did my husband, It was a really uncertain and scary time in our lives because we had no where to live and no jobs. Knowing that Christ loves us, and that we really are God's children got us through that hard time. I've learned that just because bad things happen to good people doesn't mean that God loves us any less or that we're being punished. It's God's way of showing us he loves us by helping us become better by giving us experiences where we can learn to overcome challenges.

How I live my faith

I go to church as often as I can, and I try to use the skills I have to help people in any way I can.

What is faith?

Faith is trust and belief in things that aren't visible. It grows as you learn and gain a better understanding. For example, I believe that my husband loves me. Love isn't visible and he can't physically give me a box with love in it, but I know that he loves me through the things he does and says. Similarly, I can't see God or Christ, but I have faith and believe in them because of what they've provided for us - a beautiful world to live on, sunshine to have light, and books to teach us what we need to do and how we should act.
