Hi I'm Emily McPeek

I'm 20 years old, I'm a return missionary from the Milan, Italy mission. I am happy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the Arizona desert. I have always loved my family, and I would do anything for them. I love reading, cooking, shopping, and road-tripping. From September 2013 to March 2015, I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Milan, Italy. Amo Italia con tutto il mio cuore! I am a community college student studying psychology. My goal is to be a marriage and family counselor because I know how vital happiness in family life is. I hope someday I can raise a family that feels the happiness that comes from the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the Spirit I feel when I read and hear the words of Heavenly Fathers prophets, both living and dead. I am a Mormon because I feel happy when I am serving others and fulfilling my calling in the church. I am a Mormon because while everything else in the world is confusing and always moving and changing, this gospel of Jesus Christ is constant and clear. Even if I have to go off of faith sometimes, in the end it all makes sense, and I feel peace. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let your heart not be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27). The peace that Christ gives is more lasting and meaningful than any peace we will find in the secular world. He gives the peace of eternal life, and that peace is what I seek, and what I love so much about this church.

How I live my faith

I try to bear testimony by word and by deed. That is really hard and of course I am not perfect, but remembering that I am a disciple of Jesus Christ helps to keep me in check, remembering that as His disciple I need to represent Him and the things He would do if He were on the earth.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Emily McPeek
Joseph Smith was a boy born in 1805 Vermont, and grew up in the middle of a great amount of religious dispute. With many different priests and religious leaders telling him different theories and ideas, Joseph was confused over which church was right and true. So, at age 14, he read James 1:5 in his family's Bible. The scripture said, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..." Well, young Joseph knew that he was lacking in wisdom, so one day he took a walk to a quiet, secluded field near his home to kneel in prayer to God. As he prayed, sure enough Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ themselves appeared to him. Jesus Christ told him that the true church had fallen from the earth since his time on Earth, and that Joseph's task and destiny was to restore it to it's former glory. So, when Joseph had grown to be an adult, he was given the Book of Mormon, to translate by the power of God. He did so, despite the hatred and persecution he received from the public. Soon, by the working of miricle after miricle, the Book of Mormon was published in English, and Joseph began recording other revelations he received from God. Joseph was a protector of truth. He protected it to the very end. It is said that no man has done more for the salvation of mankind, besides Jesus Christ, than Joseph Smith. Show more Show less
