Hi I'm Jeff

My devotion is to Jesus Christ and I feel honored to belong to His church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

I am a husband and father of five children. My ancestors joined the church in the 1830s traveling with the saints across the US to Missouri, then Nauvoo Illinois, across the plains with the pioneers to Salt Lake City, and later to homestead southern Idaho. I served as a Mormon missionary in Mexico for 2 years. I have a BS degree in Engineering Physics from the Colorado School of Mines and an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado. I have been working as a design engineer of integrated circuits and as an engineering manager at a semiconductor company for 22 years. My life is devoted to my family. For the past 17 years I have been a leader in the Boy Scouts of America with many years as a scoutmaster. I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, writing books, drawing and painting, playing the banjo, woodcarving, wood working, reading, studying the scriptures and church doctrinal books, studying psychology and psychology of happiness texts, and keeping up on technical studies. I have visited a prisoner in the Arizona State Penitentiary for the last 4.5 years which has changed my life and brought me a deep appreciation for our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I had only cursory contact with it in my youth. At the age of 18 I started going to Institute of Religion classes at the Colorado School of Mines where we studied the Doctrine and Covenants my first year. I remember learning about the history of the church, the mission of the Prophet Joseph Smith, the plan of Salvation and how Jesus Christ is the center piece of that plan. I learned about the Holy Ghost, the heavens, life after death, the second coming, and eternal marriage. It was so clear to my mind that I could marry a wife and be sealed to her and continue that marriage even after death and resurrection, that I could see it no other way. I knew of no other church with such doctrine. I was absolutely convinced that God works through Prophets and I was convinced Joseph Smith was a prophet sent to prepare the way for the Second Coming of our Savior Jesus Christ. Ever since I was a young child I had a keen interest in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and whenever I read any scripture or text on the subject, my ears perked up. I read everything I could find about the doctrine. I felt somehow connected to it and have been connected to it ever since. I wanted to live my life so as to be worthy to stand at that day when he comes in the clouds with all the holy angels. In later years I continued to go to the Institute of Religion where I studied the Book of Mormon, the Old Testament, the New Testament, and my understanding of the gospel grew. I loved learning of Christ ministry on the earth. Now, the testimony of Jesus Christ burns deep in me. I have been refined by adversity and trials but I know Heavenly Father has heard my prayers to see me through it all. He sent the Holy Ghost to reveal to me the truths of the Gospel. I feel deep gratitude for the atonement of my Savior. It is wonderful!

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the centerpiece of my life. I focus on scriptures, prayer, serving my family, serving at church, and helping out in the community. I love to work with the youth in the Church and serving as a scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America. I currently am scoutmaster for youth from an English speaking ward and Spanish speaking ward. I loved my mission to Mexico and feel a deep love for the Mexican people. Now I continue to use my Spanish when I communicate with the parents of the youth in our scout troop. I spend time teaching my children the gospel which I do on a daily basis through discussions at the dinner table, scripture study at night, and frequent walks and talks by the lamp. I love my wife and my five children. They are a huge source of happiness in my life. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful wife that I was sealed to in the temple 22 years ago and look forward to eternal marriage with her in time and in the eternities. She is such a blessing to me and she is a sweetheart. My life has been touched by visits to the prison. The man I visit in prison has done things for which he is greatly sorry. I feel a deep love for our Savior and the atonement that he has provided so that the prisoner can seek forgiveness and change his life. I have taken his example and tried to purify my life, seek guidance from the Holy Ghost on a constant basis, and feel deep appreciation for my covenants and the light of my life, my Savior. I know God lives and is the Father of our spirits. I know Jesus is the Christ. It is all to me. I want to endure to the end and live with them again one day along side my family in their Celestial glory.
