Hi I'm Sherl

I grew up in So. Calif. Taught seminary for 7 years. Served in the Army in Germany. Worked with Native Americans and Hispanics.

About Me

I went to school in Southern California where I was active in sports. My most favorite was playing on the high school tennis team. I Traveled to Uruguay, Peru, Paraguay where I was a missionary for my church when I was 21 years old. Soon after I returned in 1958, I was drafted into the military where I served for 2 years, the majority of which was in Germany. I married in 1961, we have 5 wonderful children who have provided us with 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. My wife and I recently returned from Lima, Peru after 18 months of service where my Spanish came in very handy. We have been married 50 + years. We enjoy traveling, visiting our family, sports, reading, exercise, one another and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon faith, but growing up in So. Calif. I had the opportunity of associating with friends of many different faiths and backgrounds. I learned to appreciate and respect other beliefs and ideas. I had the opportunity of sharing the gospel and learning about others. I have tried to live the teachings of Jesus Christ and I have, and continue to have, experienced so many blessings because of the promises we receive through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The most precious things in my life are my faith in God and His Son, my family, and my friends. Knowing that Christ is my Saviour, that families are forever and being part of God's family are part of my greatest blessings. Being a Mormon is a great blessing in my life. I have taught the gospel in Sunday School to teenagers. I have been associated with, and been taught by wonderful people who have become good friends. As I reflect upon my life I feel that all good things are a result of my faith. I see those same blessings being enjoyed by my wife and children. I am grateful for each of them in my life.

How I live my faith

I have served in many callings in the church. I taught teenagers in Seminary for 7 years, taught Sunday School classes, and have served on 2 foreign missions and several local missions. I served on the Board of Directors in my community. I believe that by serving others my faith and understanding of the Gospel is enhanced. Honesty, intergity, and concern for others is what the Lord would like us to do. All my life experiences, both personal and observing others, has taught me that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. I strive to live accordingly. I pray I can.
