Hi I'm Jean

I'm a mom, I love music and gardening and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a mom and grandma! One of my favorite times with my young children was naptime when I read stories to them. I love classic children's books. I also enjoy playing and teaching music. I play violin, piano and organ. I also love working in my vegetable garden, visiting with people and reading uplifting books. One of my favorite homemaking tasks is doing laundry. I love it that everything in there has a place! I love to look at beautiful artwork. I love working with children and youth. I spend a lot of time studying the scriptures so I can teach high school students each day before they go to school. I love to watch their faces when they learn something new. I used to enjoy sewing and counted cross stitch, but haven't had much time for that lately. My favorite summertime activity is camping with my family. I love my family from grandparents all the way down to grandchildren! I feel very blessed to have them!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was taught about Jesus from the time I was a baby. I was also taught about the importance of family and our family was very close. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and have developed my testimony in little pieces along the way. There have been a few key experiences - some of them involving music - which have really strengthened my testimony that the Savior is real and that He knows me and is always nearby to comfort and lift me up. The Gospel makes sense to me - especially since I was raised with an understanding of our Heavenly Father's plan. When I learn something new it makes sense. I love that we have a prophet that talks with God and can give us direction because he sees things we don't. I love that we don't have to guess what it is that is expected of us in order to receive the blessings promised - we know! I know that this Gospel is true. How could it not be?! I'm so grateful to have the knowledge that the Gospel gives. I don't see how anyone could make sense of this world without the knowledge of the Gospel. It gives me so much peace to know that the Savior will come again to the earth and that He will be our perfect leader! All of His children, everywhere, will be able to feel His loving embrace and all will be at peace. There won't be any poor or suffering, but we will all work together in love under the direction of our loving Brother.

How I live my faith

I try to be friendly to those around me and to be a good example of love and understanding. I give a listening ear and an understanding heart to those who need to talk. I study about the Savior and try to follow His perfect example although I fall so short of it! I accept opportunities to serve in the Church and have been in charge of the childrens group, played piano and organ, taught classes, worked with cub scouts and am currently teaching the scriptures to high school students every morning at 6:00. I love to be with them and help them to strengthen themselves before they go out into the world. This, of course, requires a lot of study, pondering and prayer which helps me learn and grow so much. I don't know where else I would have these opportunities to improve myself and learn new skills. What a blessing it is to me to accept and work in these callings! One of my favorite and most important callings is to visit 3 wonderful women every month. I'm usually able to spend at least an hour with each one of them, visiting and sharing uplifting experiences, being aware of needs that they have and developing friendships with them. I've been so blessed by the friendships of those that I've visited! Of course, my biggest responsibility is to raise my children in righteousness - not always an easy task! But I'm grateful to have the Gospel framework, guidelines and standards to help me. How could you raise a child in this confusing world of changing values and ideas without a sure and steady standard? I try to stay close to the Lord through pondering and prayer and I'm always trying to make my life such that I can receive guidance from the Holy Ghost continually.
