Hi I'm Marcha

I'm a Mormon.I like to call myself a JamAmerican, I am a mother and wife.

About Me

I became a member of the church at age 12 and grew up loving life and loving my God. I was a cheer leader; I ran cross country and played tennis. I had great friends that knew and respected my beliefs. These days I am awake (not willing) at about 5AM walking back and forth singing i am a child of god to my 5month old, then when I finally put him back to bed at 6:30AM or so my two year old comes to try to get me to wake up. I take her back to bed and tell her it is not morning yet, 15-20mins later she comes back “mom my tummy feels funny I want some MILK” and my morning begins. So what I do for fun? I get to play dress up and get turned into a horse about twice daily, as fun as that sounds I really love to dance and I do it anywhere so occasionally you may see me dancing down the aisles at the store or rocking out in my car I would say reggae and Latino are my favorite dance music. I also enjoy cooking, I love food but most of all I love sharing it, good food, music and family and friends is the Jamaican way.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Jamaica and like most 12 year olds I did not know much about the Mormons but i did know that most people thought the missionaries were spies. My family was introduced to the church threw one of my sisters friends who had recently joined the church. At first I did not want to know about the church but i could not explain the excitement and pull from something greater than myself that kept me listening to the missionaries. But most off all I had made a promise to the Lord a year earlier that i prayed and asked God to help me pass my common entrance examinations and if he would help me with this I would find him and get to know him. Well I kept that promise as I studied with the missionaries I found and joined the church. The first time I knew this church was true was one of those moments when the light goes on in your head, I knew it as I know the sun will rise tomorrow because I felt the spirit of the lord, I had never been happier in all my life because I knew I was a child of God that he had a plan for me for my family and I wanted to share that knowledge with the world.

How I live my faith

As a young mom one of my greatest accomplishments on Sundays is getting to church on time with my kids and having some time to get ready myself. But the point is I go, I do becasue I found so much joy growing up in the church and do not want my kids to miss even a momment. I recently told my husband that I feel like Nephi and his family, he asked how and I replied because I have something in common with him. In the scriptures the Lord carried Lehi and his family across the great waters to the promise land, I told him that my family and I have been carried across to the promise land and I feel the Lord has a work for me to do here. These days I spend most of my time just being there for my family. I am a reggae dancing, country singing part time horse and princess mom. I think this is what heavenly father wants me to be, life is sweet when we share in the role He (heavenly father) likes best, that of being a parent and a partner.
