Hi I'm Gordon

I'm a Mormon. I was an active Mormon for the 1st 45 years of my life. Then I left the church for 25 years. I am now happily active

About Me

I grew up in the Mormon church, was married in the temple and was a very active member. I graduated from Utah State University. I became a CPA and built a large accounting practice with two offices in different cities. I had 2 partners and about 15 young accountants working for me. I had an airplane that I used to fly between cities. I did consulting work and put together fairly large projects by raising money from my clients and the banks. I was a part owner of a bank and served on the Board of Directors. I was a scout master and became president of our local Boy Scout Council. My wife and children were all very active in the church. Some where along the line, I became so involved in building an accounting practice, playing golf with friends and clients that I lost touch with my Father in Heaven. I got divorced and literally got lost in the "wilderness". Thanks to a wonderful family, a wonderful Bishop, a wonderful Stake President and most of all to a wonderful new wife and son, I came back to the church. I now have an incredible testimony of the truthfulness of the church and I know that my Savior lives and because of the atonement, that if I do all I can, he will do the rest to help me return to my Heavenly Father. I don't think, but I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and the Book of Mormon is true. My goal in life is to help others see the light of the gospel and for them to have the joy that comes with being a member of God's true church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love the way of life it gives me. I would be lost trying to raise a family without the church and its influence on my life and that of my children. My older children and my son by my second wife all have strong testimonies of the church and it has helped them in so many ways to make the right choices in their lives. The 5 older children all have college degrees and my grandchildren either have college degrees or are working on them. Two of them served on missions and my youngest son just completed his. He is now going to a church school because he wanted the spirit that comes from being around wholesome young people with the same goals and standards that he has.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each day as I think my Heavenly Father would want me to. I try hard to be a missionary to others by the way I live. I am prepared to discuss the gospel with anyone who would like to hear. I have been active in scouting all my life and I have 3 Eagle Scout sons and 4 Eagle Scout grandsons. I am still active on a District level helping young men to become Eagle Scouts once they have attained the other ranks necessary to go to that last big step. I am a home teacher and I have been assigned to a part member family. I am happy to say they both come to church regularly and I believe both will be active members of the church in the very near future. I work on service projects including working in the church cannery which is part of the church's welfare system. Serving other people is one of the great joys I get out of life.
