Hi I'm Brian
I'm a Mormon.
I'm a husband and father of four, three daughters and a son. I work in business intelligence for a well known International company. I attended college at BYU and went back some years later to get an MBA. I am active in my community by serving in various capacities: I am the president of my homeowner's association, I am a local precinct officer for my political party, I have coached my son's baseball team, taught entrepreneurship programs at my childrens' schools, and volunteer often for community service whether it is giving blood regularly to leading work and church groups in service projects of all kinds. I love many sports and vary my activities over the course of a year between volleyball, basketball, softball, and golf. I love to take my family to the movies, out to eat, or just to have fun, and have taken my family on as many vacations as we could afford. I sing in my church choir and play guitar at home for fun. I also play video games and watch many movies with my family at home.
Why I am a Mormon
I was raised as a Christian but because my parents were of different faiths, they allowed me the freedom to go out and find my own way. I attended many churches during my youth but never really found them to be what I thought they would be for me. During high school, I was invited to investigate the LDS faith by a friend who was Mormon, and after attending their activities and services I realized quickly that this was the church for me. I then started to read the Book of Mormon to find out if it was really true scripture and I ended up reading it straight through to the end within a few days. I couldn't put it down and by the end I received a witness from the Holy Ghost that it was true, and thus the church as well. It was an amazing experience and becoming a member of this church has been the best thing I have ever done. It truly helps you find the path we are meant to follow in our life. I have found the church to be truly as inspiring as you would expect Christ's church to be and though no one in the church claims to be any more perfect than other faiths, I have found that Latter Day Saints, or Mormons, to be the most sincerely faithful people in the world, meaning they actually try to live by Christ's precepts more so than any other faith I have known. I do know many people of other faiths who come close, but not as consistently as in this church, which further reinforces my testimony of the truthfulness of this church. While many may doubt organized religion can truly support one's faith, due unfortunately to many poor examples in the world, I have found that the organization of this church to be truly inspired to support our members' faith. From an unpaid clergy to being self sufficient, the church lives all the principles of Christ's gospel that you would expect from His church.
How I live my faith
Our faith teaches us to be good citizens and good people. I, like most Mormons, seek to be a good example of my faith. We try to always be honest, to be kind, to be patient, to help others, to be involved and work hard when it might be easier to stay at home and do what we want to do instead. We try to make the world a better place by being a part of it and not just hiding out in our homes and church.
