Hi I'm Carol

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. I'm a wife, I'm a mother, an actress, a musician and a returned missionary.

About Me

My name is Carol and I was raised in an LDS home. I have four younger sisters. I am married and my husband and I got married when we were 17 and 19 years old. We have been married 51 years. And before you ask, no, it is not boring to be married to the same person for so long. We have five children, four of them living. We have helped raise about 13 children. We have loved them all. During all the years when the kids were growing up, I have been involved with Community Theatre and have loved performing and finally directing musical plays to give back to the community I live in. I have learned a lot. I also have given piano and voice lessons to beginning students. Such joy to have kids coming through the house all the time. After my husband retired, we served a full-time mission in Tennessee Knoxville Mission and every day was a joy. We worked with young elders and sisters and learned a lot. Now, we are english teachers and work with the Daily Dose program. What a great time in our life.

Why I am a Mormon

Since I was raised in the church I had to get my own testimony of the church and that happened when I was 12. I had an experience and prayed about Joseph Smith. I got a definite answer and have known for many years that Joseph Smith was a true prohpet of God and that this is Jesus Christ's true church on this earth. I am blessed to have a husband who shares this testimony with me and we enjoy all the blessings that the Lord has offered us together as a couple.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith all day, every day. I try to be true to the Savior Jesus Christ and his teachings. I try to love my family and give as much as possible. Though life is hard and there have been many challenges, I have never given up. I am blessed to play the organ and I have played in church for 58 years. Yes, 58 years. My mother taught me the songs each week and I played them. Soon, I learned all the hymns in the book. I love playing the organ on sunday and am so glad that I have this talent and that I can still play.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

We help everyone. We help our brothers and sisters because we are all children of God. My heart aches for the tragedy in the world. I am grateful that I can pray, send money or go to peoples homes and help them with their challenges. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe that by grace we are saved. We also believe that we must put action behind that belief and serve our fellowman and make good choices. Repentence is an important part of our belief and taking the sacrament once a week reminds us to keep ourselves clean from the sins of the world. Show more Show less
