Hi I'm Clinton

I grew up in the desert. I'm a musician, lover of the outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In middle school I started my favorite hobbies, music and hiking. I took these hobbies with me all the way through High School. I have played the same beat up trombone for the past eight years. I have been in a lot of different concert and jazz bands, but the important part for me has always been getting music ready for the stage. I've hiked a lot of trails in the American southwest, I've been sky diving, and I've been in the world's largest water gun fight, but nothing tops bringing my music on stage at Carnegie Hall, New York. Now I'm between High school and college. I have a lot choices about what I'll accomplish in the future, but I am always thankful for the direction that the church has given me.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members of this church. They raised me to abide my the high standards of the church. When I was very young however, I started considering if the things I had been taught all my life were true or not. Did I truly believe, or was I just going with the flow? I knew the things the church taught were good, but I didn't want to blindly follow either. There was one day that I attended Sunday school where my teacher said that if we would truly pray about the prophet Joseph Smith, then the Lord would answer our prayer, then we would know that the church he restored is also true. As I offered my first earnest prayer, I truly felt in my heart the warm feeling of the Holy Ghost confirming that these things are true. When I had this testimony of the Church, I then felt a desire to change myself. I knew I was not perfect, and I felt the guilt that comes from disobedience to the Lord's commandments. I wanted the peace that comes from receiving forgiveness. It was only when I was truly willing to make changes in my life, truly willing to follow Christ's example, that as I knelt in prayer seeking for forgiveness, felt the greatest joy knowing that the Lord loved me, and that He really had forgiven me. This joy is repeated everyday as strive to come closer to Christ. The difference between following Christ and not following was huge. I never felt happier, and now, although I am no where near perfect, I feel happier every day as I feel the Lord pushing me to be better. I know these blessings are here for me and my family, right now, and for the rest of eternity.

How I live my faith

In my life there have been a lot of different ways to participate in my faith, and each has had it's own unique influences. Weekly attending church services has helped me find my faith in Christ, weekly attending youth group helped me grow up with high standards and find friends, and the church's relationship with Boy Scouts of America helped me learn leadership skills, and learn how to serve. However, the most important things to me are the little things that I do everyday to live my faith. It is through daily scripture study that I learn the principles that Jesus taught, teaching me how to live a truly happy and fulfilling life. It is through daily prayer that I can feel every day that I have a Father in Heaven and that the things that I am learning are true. For me, I don't know what I would do without the blessings of coming closer to Christ through the gospel.
