Hi I'm Charlotte

I am a high school history teacher and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have taught Social Studies at an inner-city high school for the past twelve years. My students have come from Kenya, Somalia, India, Tonga, Mexico, all over Central America, and right here in the United States. Many of them are new to the American experience. I enjoy teaching my students about the history of the world and introducing them to the concepts that have formed American government and shaped our society. I have coached badminton, sponsored student council, sponsored key club, taught staff development courses, and worked in drop-out prevention. When I am home, I am a mom to two young daughters and a wife to a husband who works as a nurse at a local hospital. We love traveling to the beach, camping, swimming, and playing games together. We do everything we can to spend time together as a family. Our most favorite moments are whenever we are together.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of members of the LDS Church, but found my teenage years and early twenties to be a time of personal research and seeking. After studying other religions, I was continually drawn back to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it emulates the fullness of the truthfulness of the Gospel. Along with the principles of choice and accountability, and the divine nature of our spirits, the teaching of eternal families resonates in my heart; connecting my ancestors to my children’s children. In the end, family and faith are the most important to me and I find my greatest strength in the teachings of the Church.

How I live my faith

The central concept of my faith is that everyone has the freedom to choose for themselves how they are to conduct their lives. Because of this belief, I strive to be kind and respectful to everyone, and work to not be judgmental. I am actively involved in working with the children in our Church and love working with those in their early years. The children have been the best examples of how to treat others with love and compassion.
