Hi I'm Annie

I'm a physiology major, I play piano, I like to paint and dance awkwardly, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I'm planning on serving a mission for 18 months in Frankfurt, Germany--which I'm SO excited for. :D It will be hard to leave so much behind, especially my family, but I know that sacrifice will be worth it. I can't wait to meet and become friends with so many people, and to show them what I love about my faith. I'm also looking forward to speaking German and enjoying some of that tasty German food! After I return, I'm going back to school to study physiology and hopefully something musical. I love to sing and play the piano, I make jewelry, and I'm a hopeless romantic. I can't dance....but I will if someone wants to look like a crazy person with me. I love Star Wars and Star Trek, and I like reading fantasy novels. In high school I ran sprints, long jump, and high jump, and I played volleyball and basketball in a church league. Basketball's my favorite! I like Doctor Who, Sherlock, Avatar, and Merlin. Make-up is a foreign concept to me...and I'll only do my hair if it takes five minutes. I love to laugh, and like making others do the same. I love every aspect of my religion, and some of the things I hold most dear are prayer and feeling the Holy Spirit.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, so I've been steadily going to church ever since I can remember. But you see, it got to the point (a few years ago) where I decided to stop waiting for something just to happen--something that would strengthen my faith in my religion. I knew I needed to throw myself out there, find out answers for myself, start building my beliefs on things I knew were true. It was always kind of a scary thought; what if I didn't find anything? What would I do if I didn't feel like I was on the right path? So I began to read my scriptures; specifically, the Book of Mormon. After going through its pages and soaking up the meanings, ideas, and principles, I knew nothing written so purely could be untrue. Ever since then, I've continued to grow! I'm a Mormon because I love everything I've learned; it all brings me joy. I know this Gospel really is the only one that has every piece that Christ had in His church, and that it truly is the restored church on the earth today, that they are one and the same. I feel close to my Heavenly Father when I make choices that are in line with the standards of this church. I know that if I have questions that they will be answered if I have faith and the willingness to work hard to find those answers. I'm a Mormon because it gives me the best perspective I've ever had.

How I live my faith

I've had a really unique opportunity to live differently as I prepare to serve a mission. Missionaries have to be able to answer lots of questions, so I've been trying to study every day (I have good days and bad days...:)). I don't know why I didn't do this before! There's so much to learn about the Gospel, but despite the immensity, everything about it is simple, pure, clear, and beautiful. When I'm on my mission, I can learn more of these things and share them with others if they want to learn, and I'm so excited (and nervous!) to be able to do that!
