Hi I'm Sharon

I have 8 children and a son with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I'm a musician and a dancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

With eight young children to care for, I spend my days changing diapers, mediating fights, reading picture books, shuttling children here and there, helping with homework and otherwise managing a busy household. I also deal with the challenge of a son with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Much of my time is devoted to helping him and coping with the rage, screaming and defiance that fills our home on a daily basis. Sometimes after all of that I find time to play the piano, sing, and dance around with my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because in this church I learn how to have full access to all of the blessings God has in store for his children. The teachings in this church show me how to have happiness in this life and in the life to come. It is through the teachings of the Book of Mormon and modern day prophets that I have gained the strength and wisdom I need to help a son with mental illness. These same teachings have also helped me to build a strong marriage and strong relationships with my children. I feel that no matter what challenges I am facing now and will continue to face, I can be at peace knowing that Jesus Christ is at my side, and that He will continue to guide and support me as He has in the past. It is through living life as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that I have found Him in my heart.

How I live my faith

I currently organize the music for large events in our local congregation. I lead a hundred-person choir twice a year, and it is such a thrill. It feels like I am leading the Tabernacle Choir! I believe strongly that music can help people to feel the love of Jesus Christ in a powerful way. I also visit some women each month to give them a short inspirational message and offer support and friendship. I try to reach out to my neighbors and be of service to them in any way I can. I read my scriptures and pray daily, as well as attend church every Sunday. The most consistent way I live my faith is by raising my children and teaching them to be honest, kind, and dedicated followers of Jesus Christ.
