Hi I'm Kris

I'm a Mormon. I've been a member of the church all my life. I'm going to school to become an X-ray technologist at the age of 49.

About Me

I love being a mother, but it didn't happen without a lot of tears, patience and prayers. After many years of trying to have a baby we adopted two beautiful children- a girl and then a boy. They have been the greatest joy to my husband and me. I am so thankful to the two loving birth mothers who through their incredible sacrifice and selflessnes allowed this great blessing to come into our lives. 21 years have passed since we brought our second little baby home, and they have both grown up. Our daughter is married and our son is returning from a mission next week. That left us as "empty nesters." I decided to try my hand at a new career. I am working to complete my schooling to become a Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray Tech). It has not been easy to return to school, but as I get out into the workforce I am excited to serve and encourage those with whom I will interact. Through it all my husband has been my rock. Marrying him has been best thing that has ever happened to me. He is a tender, romantic, funny, thoughtful, high energy guy who fills in all the pieces of me that are missing. Every once in a while I want to feel sad because we didn't have more children, but how can I? My life and my family are a blessing and I am happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a testimony that the principles and doctrines of the church are true. I know that we each have a purpose and a reason for being here on this earth. I cannot make myself believe that the universe or we as individuals just "happened."  In my heart I know that we existed before this earth life and we will continue to exist and progress after our earth life is complete. I love the doctrine of the temple: That we can be sealed for time and eternity to our families if we are righteous. I know we have a Heavenly Father. We lived with Him before we came to earth. We are His spirit sons and daughters. He loves us. He loves us so much He sent His Son to earth to atone for our sins so that we would have a way to return to live with Him. Jesus Christ is the way. Through Him we can become clean from our sins if we repent so that we can again enter God's presence. I know we have a prophet on the earth today. Why would a loving Heavenly Father send prophets in earlier dispensations, but not in ours? He wouldn't. President Thomas S. Monson receives revelation to guide us during some of the most treacherous times that have ever been lived. If we follow his counsel we will be safe. I know the Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ. I have found comfort and counsel too many times to count from reading the pages of this sacred volume of scriptures. I do not discount the sacred writing of the prophets from the Bible. I have had the opportunity to teach high schoolers from this holy work. I have felt the undeniable power of God from both the Old and New Testament during our class time.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to work with many different age groups over the past 30 years of my adulthood. I have worked with the children's organization, the youth group, and the women's organization. Each has it's own unique charm and place in the church. Right now my husband and I have a special assignment out of our home congregation. We has been asked to work with a congregation of young single adults (18-35). We love it. They are so enthusiastic and so committed, yet in some ways so vulnerable. They love the Savior and show it by their countless acts of service for each other and the community. It makes me want to be a better person to rub shoulder with them.
