Hi I'm Kathy

I grew up in Alabama. I teach online math classes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just recently became a stay at home mom after being in the workforce for 15+ years. I am still trying to figure out how to get everything done that I need to get done. I enjoy teaching online math classes part-time. I hope to get in a routine so that I can have structured time for my children to learn while they are young. I enjoy family time and love to play with my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. However, I was always encouraged to find out for myself that what I was learning was true. In my early years of college, I had an opportunity to attend a non-denominational bible study group. I attended with the hope to learn about others' beliefs and how mine were different...or were they? I found that I was answering more of the questions that my peers had than finding answers of my own. Then one day, someone asked how you know something is true. I started to panic because the others in the group always looked to me for my answers. I realized that was really my question. I was racking my brain as other people answered, and then they turned to hear what I had to say. I began to bear my testimony about how the Holy Ghost teaches us through our thoughts, feelings and others words. I knew then that all I had been taught was true. I had small glimpses of truth throughout my life as I learned about tithing, charity, meekness, church attendance, etc. I knew at that moment that my search was over for where to turn. I knew that I was in the place where I could learn from the Savior best.

How I live my faith

I teach the young single adults ages 18 to 30 a religion class every two weeks. I learn so much from them as I impart knowledge and they share experiences with me. I love working with them because I feel it was not that long ago that I faced the struggles they are facing. They are so full of life and teachable. They think on their feet and make me research so that I am prepared to assist them in their quest for knowledge.
