Hi I'm Karen

I am Canadian and American. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother. I'm a bit of a clean freak. I love cooking, baking and crafts. I love travelling and exploring new places. I have lived in four countries and have learned to take the good from each of the cultures I have experienced. I have learned that there is more than one way to do something, that you can always learn something new and that the world is a much bigger place than the shopping mall a few miles away. I absolutely love sports! To me, the four seasons are football season, hockey season, basketball season and baseball season. I value education, honesty, dedication and loyalty. My first priority in life is always my family.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 5 years old. Before that, they were true "hippies". I have very distinct memories from before they joined the church, most of which are not good. But once they were baptized, our lives changed drastically. We became a "family" and we, their children, became their priority. That's not to say they were perfect...but we were all better. I made a decision when I was a teenager to not just follow blindly the things I was taught but to believe them and to put them to the test. Every time I have done so, I have seen the Lord's hand in my life. And I have had been given a witness of their truthfulness. That's what led me to choose to serve a full-time mission. I didn't just believe the things I had been taught...I knew them. And I knew that other people could be happier and better by learning about them too.

How I live my faith

I teach the young children in our ward/congregation. I have been involved in this capacity in our church for the better part of 20 years. I daily teach my children to be honest, to trust in our Heavenly Father, to try to live each day a little bit better than the one before and to love others; especially each other. I serve in my childrens' schools by volunteering and sharing my talents with those in the community. I try to be a friend to those I come in contact with.
