Hi I'm Becky

I grew up in South Texas, never hearing of Mormons. I am a wife, a mom, a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to compose piano music, songs and poetry. I enjoy learning about health, healing and events and people in the world. I love reading good books. I have a master's degree in music and taught college music and public school music. Choir director, professional accompanist, piano teacher, singer and pianist are some of the hats I have worn. I love my family most of all. I have a miracle child and two other miracle children through adoption. I have a wonderful husband who I love more every day after almost 25 yrs of marriage. I love having friends over and love being with my family most of all. I think life is a constant journey of love and learning. I really believe that our lives have a purpose and that our Heavenly Father can help us find that purpose.

Why I am a Mormon

I was given a Book of Mormon by a friend in high school. The minute I opened that book, I felt something very warm that filled me with love and peace. After many years, I followed those feelings and joined the Church of Jesus Christ. I know that if anyone will sincerely, honestly read the Book of Mormon they will know that Jesus is the Savior of the world and that there is another witness to stand side by side with the Holy Bible. Joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the best decision I ever made in my life. My whole life changed into a rich, meaningful purpose because of the things I know and keep learning from the teachings in the scriptures. I am really grateful to have a living prophet in these confusing times. I always had a strong feeling I had lived with my Father in Heaven before I came here and that I wanted to return to Him someday. I felt this on my own and then found out that this church teaches that very thing. It makes me really sad when I hear people say that Mormons (Latter-day Saints) don't believe Jesus is the Savior and Son of God. I am telling you we absolutely do believe Jesus is our Savior and is the Son of God. Having a family that would last forever was another thing I believed on my own, and now I belong to the Church that makes that all possible. I am a Mormon because I knew the Book of Mormon was everything it claimed to be and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is really true!

How I live my faith

Serving in my Church is a great blessing. Right now I am the choir director and music chairman in my "ward". A ward is the local congregation of the whole Church. I also go every month to visit other women to be their friend and to be there for them in their time of need. This is called visiting teaching. My visiting teachers helped me many times when I was sick or in need. I have taught young women, children and adults Sunday School classes in the past. But most importantly, I try to live my faith every day in my home and with my family. We read the scriptures as a family and as individuals every day and pray together. We have a "family night" every week where we enjoy time together and study a spiritual topic or scripture story together. It is a wonderful bonding experience. I know that these things help my children as they face the many responsibilities of their lives, as well. I have learned that faith in Jesus Christ is vital to becoming stronger through adversity and trials. He truly has carried me through the hardest times in my life. I have been comforted so many times by the Holy Ghost and have felt my Savior and my Father in Heaven loving me and taking care of me. I know that they love every single one of us.
