Hi I'm Sydnee

Im a graduated Homeschooler, an artist, a missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My mother homeschooled me just as she home schools my siblings. I'm the oldest of my three siblings and the oldest cousin on both sides of my family. I enjoy reading and writing fantasy stories; most of my inspiration for stories come from dreams. I'm not very gifted in sports but I enjoy volleyball, gaga ball, missionary tag, ultimate Frisbee and human foosball. I love drawing-mostly with colored pencils-and painting although most of my drawings end up looking less like real life and more like manga with realistic details. I've only had one actual art teacher, the rest I've mostly had to teach myself by reading different art books from my library. I'm also an actor; I love acting because I adore costumes and pretending you're someone else. Most of what I've acted in are improv shows and musicals. Most importantly for me in leaving on a mission in three days, I will be serving in Oregon for a year and a half. I could not be more scared and excited.

Why I am a Mormon

I've always been a member of the church; my mom converted my dad, they got married in the temple and we were sealed to them before we were even born. However, I did have my doubts as a child, most of my friends were baptized when they were eight, but I still had doubts at that age that this was the true church. I thought about every story I had memorized and every song I sang in primary but I still wasn't sure that it was all true. I didn't want to make a choice before I was completely sure about my decision and I'm grateful that my parents were patient with me and let me choose for myself. It later increased my faith and it made me realize how much they cared about me. I waited until I was nine, all the while searching for an answer and improving myself. One day I felt like I might be ready in the eyes of my Lord and I prayed for an answer, as I was praying I felt warmth in my chest like a fire had surrounded my heart. All of a sudden I felt very sure that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints was the only true church put on the earth today. I was baptized just a few months later and it was one of the happiest days of my life. I believe that my Heavenly Father loves me and that he wants what's best for me, I came here for a reason; just like all of my brothers and sisters on this earth including my Savior Jesus Christ who sacrificed his life for me so I may make it back to Heaven when I have completed my mission on earth.

How I live my faith

For the past year or so I have been a nursery leader and worked with children 1-3 years old, but right before I received my mission call I was released and was asked to help teach a gospel class. Other than that I have been preparing to serve a mission since spring of 2013. It has been challenging both physically and spiritually, but the strength and growth I've obtained has been worth all of it. My hope is that as a missionary I will be able to help others as Jesus would help them and to successfully share His love with everyone I come in contact with.
