Hi I'm J.D.

I'm a Mormon, Football Coach, Salesman for ISS Facility Services, Father of 2, and Husband to a beautiful wife.

About Me

My wife and I live in a suburb of Salt Lake City. We have 2 beautiful daughters and love watching them grow. I love football, and I coach at a local high school here. I graduated from Cottonwood High School in 2004, went to Snow College then on my mission to Madrid, Spain from 2005-2007. I came home, married my wife and graduated from BYU. I got a job with ISS Facility Services where I currently work. We love going outdoors, and hanging out with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the small simple things that happen everyday that bring me happiness. I have had several experiences in my life where I have had to figure out on my own if God lives and loves me. And when I have spent the time to really question important things in life (sometimes out of need, and other times out of curiosity), I have always received the same answer: God lives, he loves me, and he wants me to be a Mormon. These great big answers have come to me a few times in my life, but I do not have the faith for these to be enough. I easily forget the power of those experiences. However, God knows my weaknesses, and gives me small reminders of those experiences every time I live according to his plan. Each time I play with my daughters, or go on a date with my wife, or really get into my scriptures, or pray, or attend the temple, or pay my tithing, or exercise, or share my testimony, or see the ocean, or watch a sunset over the Great Salt Lake. All these things and many many more let me know everyday why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church on Sunday. Teaching Youth on Sunday. Helping young men in scouting on Tuesday Nights. I don't drink, smoke, or drink coffee, or tea. I read scriptures everyday personally and with my family. I pray daily both personally and with my family. I attend the temple regularly where I make sacred promises with God and my wife. I don't curse, or allow inappropriate jokes in my presence. I fight temptations all the time because Satan desires to bring my destruction. I listen to Prophets and Apostles who guide me to where I need to be in life. I visit other members of my church in their home to teach/learn from them and make sure their needs are meet both spiritually and temporally. I participate in service projects in the community. And I think about how to better live so that I may be pure and let the light of the Savior shine through me. I do these things because I must do them. I am very weak. I sin all the time. I rely on my Savior for redemption and repentance. Doing these things help me feel happy. They help me feel closer to my Savior and with my weaknesses I have found that living my Faith is the only way to feel complete peace and happiness.
