Hi I'm Ben Sivert

I'm a Husband, Father of five, an outdoor enthusiast, a construction company owner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Orem, UT. I have wonderful parents and am the oldest of eight children. As a kid the orchards surrounding my home were my woods. As I got older I spent more time on Mount Timpanogas. My brothers and I have climbed and hunted Timpanogas many times. That love for the outdoors is still a big part of my life today. I graduated from High Scool. Then was a ski bum for a couple of years befor I realized I needed to do something more with my life. A big part of that realization was meeting my wife to be, Erin.  She was so special and for the 1st time I could see how awesome it could be to be with someone for the rest of forever. I started organizing my life so that I could be the type of husband she deserved. Finally I entered the MTC. I had my 22nd birthday in the MTC and went on to serve my mission in Madrid, Spain. I felt I had some time to make up. I got home from my mission Erin was there. She invited me to a New Years party. I went we talked till late. I picked her up the next morning and we spent the day together. Three months after I got home we were married in the Salt Lake Temple. One year after I was home we had our first child. A boy, Joe. Then 15 months later CJ. I was now caught up and graduated from UVU in Construction Managment. We moved to Georgia and loved it. The rest is a blurr. We moved to AZ with the Boys and now Camerin, my little princess. Then came Tommy and Matthew. Life is crazier and more beautiful everyday.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. My parents were both converts. Just being born in the Church will not gaurantee you will stay an active member. I have chosen to continue in the faith because I know it is true. Everytime I read the Book of Mormon, go to church, attend the Temple, here the prophet speak, or work in my church calling I feel through the Spirit that I am where I am supposed to be. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and all of us. He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ to make a way for us to return to our Heavely Father. In order for us to follow the Savior we have to do what he did. Some of the things we have to do are ordinances like Baptism. These things are only done by true authority in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Christ's church on the earth today. Just as Christ established appostles and prophets before, he does today. The Restoration of the Christ's Church was brought about by a Prophet of God, his name is Joseph Smith. We have a prophet today, Thomas S Monson. The Prophet and Apostles help us follow the Savior today just like they did in Biblical times in the Mediteranian. We also, in addition to the Bible, have a record of what the prophets were teaching on the American Contenant it is The Book of Mormon Another Testimate of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My 1st priority is the relationship I have with God. To keep this relationship growing I pray, study the scriptures, and work to fulfill the responsibilities He has given to me. My second priority is the relationship I have with my wife. She is the person God gave me to have the greatest influence for good in my life. Life is always good when we are both working together to keep all the commandments God has given us, no matter how difficult the challenges. If I keep my focus on what I can do to assist her, she reciprocates the same for me. Don't get me wrong this is very simple, but difficult to do all the time 100% and sometimes I fall short. That's when she lifts me and we work together to get back in harmony with God's will for us. My third priority is my children. It is my responsibility to provide for them and lead them in doing good things. Some of the ways we do that are daily family scripture study. Prayer as a family both morning and night. Our Family Home Evening where we study the gospel together and have a fun activity together as a family. I also try to teach my children to work hard and do good in school. Another tool I use is regularly interviewing my children to find out how they are doing on there own person prayer and scripture study. I also make sure that they are staying away from destructive habits that have become so common in our society. We also talk about goals they have at school, home, church and scouts. It is their time with Dad with no interruptions, sometimes they just need that time. My fourth priority is my ministry, calling, or service I perform in our congregation. My ministry is to help the other men at church do the same things I am doing in my own home. We have activities together and support each other in serving different families in our congregation and with challenges we have in our lives. We also visit the home of each member of our congregation, teaching the gospel and making sure they are OK.
