Hi I'm Jayleen

I grew up in Colorado. I'm lucky to be married to my best friend. I'm a redheaded Muggle. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Although Arizona is my current home, I grew up in the shadow of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I have an incredible husband and two amazing daughters. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education, but at this point in my life I choose to be a stay-at-home wife and mom who doesn't stay home much, and I love it. I would like to be considered a 'domestic goddess' but since I am still working on that I will stick with 'domestic engineer' instead. When the weather is nice, I love to be outdoors swimming, quading, walking/hiking, and working in the yard. When it's too hot to be outside, I love to create photobooks, organize my home, read books (Harry Potter fan!), work on crafts or sewing, and do genealogy. I appreciate good music. I've traveled to other countries and enjoyed them but I would still prefer to go to Disneyland on every vacation. I am energized by having time alone and I am admittedly an introvert. Despite that, I enjoy being a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a granddaughter.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have received my own testimony about the truthfulness of the gospel. Though I was born LDS, I still had to gain my own testimony by reading the Book of Mormon and praying for confirmation of its purpose and truthfulness as a witness of Jesus Christ. I have an unwavering testimony of prayer. I have no doubt that my Heavenly Father knows who I am and what I need in my life. I constantly receive answers to my prayers, though not always in the way I expect them. I see His tender mercies in my life every single day. He lifts my burdens and makes difficult things bearable. I am not perfect, but through the simplicity of the gospel I can work towards being more like Jesus and Heavenly Father. I continue to follow His gospel because I feel happy when I do.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being busy with good activities. I like to feel like I accomplish something every day. I frequently help at my daughters' school in their classrooms or in the lunchroom. I also keep busy with my church responsibilities. One responsibility I always have and enjoy is as a visiting teacher. With visiting teaching I have the opportunity to spend time with just two other women, visiting in a relaxed setting. We discuss gospel topics, but we also discuss our lives and try to help each other. Currently, my other church responsibility is to help others research their genealogy, which is something I thoroughly enjoy doing. Another way I live my faith is by looking for opportunities to do as Jesus would do and serve others in their various needs.
