Hi I'm Roland

I grew up in California, and joined several churches along the way. Today? I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am an avid golfer, a husband, father, and grandfather. I enjoy dancing - especially the west coast swing. I am married to the love of my life who introduced me to the gospel when I was 57. We met dancing in April, began to date at the end of June, and I asked her to marry me at the end of July, joined the church in September, and we were married on November 2! In my former life, I was a barber, a basketball player and a baker.

Why I am a Mormon

When I met my wife, I liked the person she "was", and I wanted to more about her church. I took the missionary lessons, and immediately joined the Mormon church in September 1991. I had been a member of several other Christian churches since I was a youth, but never did I feel I was where I belonged until I became a Mormon. It feels like one big family! Everyone is warm and welcoming, and my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel grows stronger every week when I attend my meetings.

How I live my faith

Shortly after joining the church, I had the opportunity to serve in a leadership position that was uncomfortable or out of my comfort zone, and I grew to love that experience as well as the men with whom I served. Serving in the church has given me the opportunity to learn more about the people and families, and to feel accepted by all of them. I love attending my weekly meetings, or serving in any capacity that I am asked. I am the one who benefits the most from willingly serving the Lord.
