Hi I'm Josh

I'm a Cook, Songwriter, I love life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy doing lots of wonderful things in life. I love playing and writing songs on guitar, creating audio and visual content, doing 3D animation and design, being outside, doing anything new, listening to soulful and inspiring music, spending time with family, and many casual sports. I also love spending time in the kitchen and work as a cook and kitchen manager. I really enjoy the challenge of using random food items to create meals that are interesting, and when they taste good that's always a huge plus too. Above everything else I enjoy living life knowing that I am a son of God. There is no greater peace than knowing that He loves me and wants to help me. He loves me so much that He sent His son Jesus Christ to atone for my sins and make forever happiness and progression possible. This is what drives me, guides me, and comforts me. I feel the urge to share it with everyone else, because I know it will be the best thing that will ever happen to them.

Why I am a Mormon

My testimony of the church is anchored to the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I have read it. I know it is authentic. I know it is God's word. He gave it to us when He knew, we as His children, would receive it. The things I understand now about God and His ways is just the beginning. I've just started to scratch the surface. There is a depth to the Book of Mormon. Every time I read it there is a new level or angle for me to experience. I know that no mortal man or woman could conceive such a book. It could only be from God. Joseph Smith was simply a man that God knew He could talk to. Someone who was worthy to be the Prophet of the Lord. Someone who could be trusted to translate the Book of Mormon without altering it. It is inspired of God and not the product of a man. When you read it you will find that the doctrines of Jesus Christ in the book are found and practiced in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is the reason I am a Mormon. Beyond this there are so many more reasons, but they're all connected to my faith in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My faith is something that is very much a part of me. Though I'm not always great at it, I try to be a person God would be proud of. I try to never leave the standards I've set for myself at the door. Standards of language, health, modesty, and conduct. These are all things that are valuable and are a part of you. When you leave them you not only leave God but you leave your real self and become something less than you. There's always happiness in the respect that you receive when you are doing good things for the sake of good rather than trying to force respect from others. I always want to be someone people can look up to for help because so many people have given it to me. I know I have lots (and lots, and lots, and lots...) of imperfections and I'm grateful that I do. Yes, they can be frustrating but I always have something to work on and change. Finding meaning and happiness in your mistakes is one of the things I've tried to do recently. It makes it so much sweeter when you overcome something that you used to struggle with. I find the longer and more rocky the road, the bigger the celebration is at the end. I know I have to keep going if I ever want to make it. I know Heavenly Father is even more excited when we reach our destination. And thankfully there always new roads and adventures for us if we are willingly to go on them.
