Hi I'm Janet Lee

I'm a Mormon ....... I am a Happy Convert!!

About Me

I had wonderful parents, they taught me, loved me and gave me all a girl could wish for. My one brother left home when I was 6 and joined the Army. so I was basically raised as an only child. I was happy, but as I got older one thing seemed to be missing. Our home had no religion. I started going to church with my grandmother or wherever my girl friends went, though I never joined a church. When I was a sophomore in High School my life changed forever. A new boy came to our school. He was the talk of the school, and he chose to date me, the shyest girl in the class. On our first date he told me he was a Mormon and that he would like to date me again, but his religion was very important to him and I would need to go to church with him, asking me to go the upcoming Sunday. I thought well, why not?? That decision changed my life forever! Also on that first date he told me if we ever got married that Mormons were married in a special place called a temple! What was a temple?? I had no idea. It all worked out. I am in my 58th year of marriage to that wonderful guy, have 4 children and their eternal companions are the best, and of course there are our grandchildren and great grandchildren!! I love all sports, drama, music and any activities the kids participate in. I play tennis to stay in shape. I love all the beauty of this earth that God has created for us! Life is Good!!!

Why I am a Mormon

It was strange to meet a young man who loved his religion the way this guy did, and yet he was fun and had goals in his life. I went along with him to all church activities, and never had such a good time! I liked what I felt at church, I felt comfortable, and it gave me self esteem. I at this point did not really know if the church was true but I thought to myself, this is a good way of life, even if it is not true. The subject of baptism came up and I thought why not?? We dated four years before our marriage in the Idaho Falls Temple, yet I leaned on my husbands testimony! After marriage came more college for my husband, I worked to help him through school, and then came the joy of welcoming our first son! It was as I held that precious infant in my arms that I learned of a mother's love for her children! I had never experienced such love, and it was at that moment that I knew I wanted what was right and best for that baby and our future children. I now knew that I had a need! I had to find out for my self if this church I had joined was true!! I wanted to teach my children gospel truths, so with my new found desire came the reading of the scriptures, pondering, study and prayer. The knowledge and testimony came!! I know the Church that Christ establised while on this earth was restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith and that that same church is led by a living prophet today! I treasure my testimony, it is mine, no one can take it from me and I will never deny it and yes! Yes, together my husband and I taught our children gospel truths. The gospel truths are my joy, my comfort and my peace no matter what transpires in this life.

How I live my faith

There have been few Sundays in our many years of marriage and raising a family that we have not attended church on the Sabbath. It is important to us to partake of the sacrament and renew our covenants weekly. When traveling it is always fun to visit churches in new areas. The doctrine of the church is the same wherever we go, and we always feel so welcome. In the church I have had many opportunities to serve, mainly in leadership positions. President of the children's group ages 18 months to 12, of the Young Women's group (12 to graduation), and President of the Women's Group. I have also had the opportunity to teach early morning Seminary for the High School students at 6:30 a.m., 5 days a week. They come faithfully every day to study the gospel together. What dedication and faith those teenagers have! I have been blessed to serve two mission with my husband, one in San Francisco, and one at the Family History Center in Mesa, AZ. My husband and I worked together in our home town business for 30 years and have had the opportunity to help and serve many people in the community. I have had great joy in service as well as personal growth. I am so glad "I Am A Mormon."
