Hi I'm Ricky

I grew up in Wyoming. I'm a husband and father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My upbringing has helped me develop a diversity of interests; from Jazz and Blues music to Soccer and Football. It seems interesting to me that I had to move to Wyoming to discover Jazz music. When my family relocated to this small mountain community, I soon discovered that our high school had a distinguished vocal jazz choir. I joined the choir, quite frankly, by accident. I originally attended tryouts to support a friend. The choir director finished auditions and then invited me to give the vocal exercises a shot. He must've saw/heard something in my voice that I didn't because I was invited to join the choir without prior choir experience. For the next two years I feel in love dissonant chords, live bands and scatting. For someone who did not particularly enjoy high school, my choir experiences are fondly remembered. It helped that we also won most every competition in every Jazz festival we attended. I come from a very physical and sports-oriented family of boys. Having all brothers, we enjoyed very "spirited" 3 on 3 football games together. Watching football games on TV, attending college football games in person and then playing the game together was a cherished family tradition. To this day, one of the ways we celebrate our being together is to either play or watch a football game.

Why I am a Mormon

I am choose to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as taught in both ancient and modern scripture, because of the happiness I feel and see in others. It is important to me to know that God is a never-changing being who has always loved and guided His people, or those who strive to follow His laws. He has sent servants through out time to teach, preach and lead. Prophets and Apostles have always been called and chosen to perform the work of the Lord. Today is no different. I am a Mormon because I believe in this order. I believe God has chosen Prophets and Apostle in our day.

How I live my faith

I strive to actively participate in my local congregation. My favorite place to serve, if I am allowed a favorite, is in the classroom. In the past, I have taught weekly adult Sunday School classes, daily youth classes and anything in between. Currently, I teach young children, 4 - 5 years old. It is very enjoyable to listen to eternal truths from the mouth of babes. There is an innate or natural knowledge of a loving Heavenly Father that these special little spirits share with me on a weekly basis.
