Hi I'm Ashley

I'm a chef, an avid art lover and a Mormon.

About Me

Though a resident of the great Northwest, I am sunshine's biggest fan and you will frequently find me wishing I lived in Arizona, much to the dismay of my husband. I do love Seattle for the beautiful ocean against the rugged Cascade Mountains and a city that thrives on art, culture and food. I studied Art History in college and love frequenting the local museums. I've worked at several museums, had a small stint as an elementary school teacher and am now currently attending culinary school. My life revolves around all things edible and delicious. Most recently I've been perfecting the art of sourdough. I inherited a nearly 150 year old start from my grandpa and have been doing my best to keep it thriving. My husband and I love boating during the summer and skiing/snowboarding during the winter and escaping to the coast as often as possible.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I would be nothing without the Savior and His atonement. My greatest joy in life comes from knowing that I am a child of a loving God. Because of that I know He has a plan for me and I know He sent His son so that I could be forgiven and return to live again with Him. My faith gives me peace, hope and joy through difficult trials and the uncertainties of life. I have felt His love and compassion buoy me up in my hardest and saddest moments. Because of my faith I know that family relationships can continue beyond the grave--that I can be with my husband and children forever. And nothing could give me more joy than that.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. My faith is who I am and that directs every action, be it in the smallest smile to a passing stranger, a thank you to the waiter for filling my water, or a quick note to make someone smile and feel important and appreciated. I live my faith by having daily family prayer, individual prayer and studying the holy scriptures. I live my faith by not being ashamed to talk with others about a church meeting or activity that we had or inviting them along to an upcoming event. I live my faith by trying to love and serve as Christ did.
